1. Edmundo got dem ol' Kozma blues again mamaYet there is no relationship between Brock and Myril in the Wikipedia article nor on BR. Oversight or bizarre family tree?
Anyway, at 22, he had a good season at AA .... and was given a couple of games in the majors.
At 23, he was not so good at AAA ... and still got 20 PA in the majors
At 24, he was not so good at AAA again ... and still got 17 PA in the majors
At 25, he was not so good at AAA ... and got 13 PA in the majors
At 26, he was pretty good at AAA ... and got 31 PA in the majors
At 27, surely out of options by now, right??? ... he's got 22 PA in the majors as the Astros back-up C.
In all of those cups of coffee in the majors, he's actually hit quite well in those 111 PA (123 OPS+). It's obviously possible that without him improved AAA performance last year the Astros might have cut bait.
Or is the story about improving his defense via data -- I've got no way of assessing that.
He's been a pro since 18, at some point he had to have been a minor league free agent. Other teams could have signed him, but with the lack of AAA production from ages 23-25 probably not a lot of offers.
