Keith Olbermann, Sean Hannity Friendly At Yankees Game

If there’s one thing that could bring Keith Olbermann and Sean Hannity together (apart from the occasional CNN-bashing), it’s baseball.

Both cable news stars showed up for Game 6 of the World Series Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium.

Olbermann wrote about the game on his MLBlog, where he said of Hannity, “And lastly, a reminder that baseball does erase boundaries. The guy I’m taking a photo of, who’s taking a photo of me - we get along perfectly at the ballpark - less so during our day jobs.”

Mediaite’s Steve Krakauer notes that Hannity pre-taped his 9PM show, while Olbermann’s “Countdown” aired live at 8PM with guest-host Lawrence O’Donnell.

Thanks to Cleo.

Hannity is supposedly a friendly, easy-to-get-along-with guy off-camera despite being a raving loon, and I'm sure Olbermann isn't a total ahole when he doesn't have employees around to berate, so this isn't really that surprising.

Yeah, it's their job to hate each other but no one wants to bring their work home with them.

Good thing the Yankees chain everyone to their seats...or else there might have been trouble!

Why should they hate each other? They help each other's careers immensely.

Other headlines about as notable as this one:

DiPerna, Andy, friendly at pool hall in Baltimore

Didn't Ray and Andy meet once? There was a big Baltimore mmetup the day that Manny hit #500.

Yes, they really played pool and both, apparently, had a good time (particularly Andy, who loaded up on glaucoma drops and, I have been told, cleaned Ray's clock at the table).

It's not much of a "reportedly" is it? Ray isn't actually shy owning up to the ass-kicking Andy administered.

Andy was playing with four days' rest.

they need each other, this is no different than Nikolai Volkov and the Iron Sheik hanging out with Hacksaw Jim Duggan and getting ####faced together.

I think that was the one that was sponsored by Kevin.

I think Andy plays in a money league. He is Maryland Slim.

Before Hannity made it big, he did this radio show in ATL. On April fools, he switched DJ jobs with the DJ crew that did the ALT-Rock format. He came in doing an ultra-conservative schtick (almost after every call, he's say, "That's someone's daughter.") and the alt station troika did a liberalesque call in show on the talk station.

Both broadcasts were hilarious.

Since I can't imbibe anymore, I must admit I've stopped keeping up with all the mixed-drink concoctions people come up with ...

Hannity and Franken have chummed it up as well.

Hannity knows his act is just that, as vile as it may be.

I suppose that I should find someone left-leaning but equally as apathetic as me and have a bowling or golfing bromance.
   16. gef the talking mongoose Posted: November 05, 2009 at 08:10 PM (#3379852)
I'm actually pretty apathetic, to the extent that I have no idea of who my district's city councilman or state or even U.S. rep are* (living in a GOP stronghold, I figure there's no point in bothering to learn them, since there's little chance one might find himself in front of my car at an opportune time). Just in case you ever find yourself at Bama Lanes over on the Atlanta Highway ...

*And to think I indexed & then wrote the instructor's manual for a textbook on local goverment back in early '84!

Shooty, Lassus, Teal and Black, snapper friendly at NYC meet-up

Lassus was not there. I hit him with a steel chair while backstage, turning the contest into a handicap match. Shooty fought valiantly against the odds, but all was lost until the lights turned out and pinball made the save.

He later shot snapper and me.

I have no idea of who my district's city councilman or state or even U.S. rep are*

Your US Rep is former Montgomery mayor and Democrat Bobby Bright. Whose votes in the House are virtually indistinguishable from the Republican he replaced, so being apathetic is just about the only option if you live there. Your choices range from far-right to holy-####-my-neck-won't-turn-that-far-right.
   23. gef the talking mongoose Posted: November 05, 2009 at 08:58 PM (#3379928)
I could be wrong, but I think Bright's district actually starts (or ends, depending on how you look at it) at the end of my block. Or maybe that's true only of the state rep, whoever that is.

But yeah, you sum up nicely just why I make a point of not giving a damn about the local political scene: It's psychic self-defense. This is the only place I've ever lived where large numbers of people are actually open about being Republicans* (not, as you note, that going by the Democratic label in the Deep South actually means anything anyway ... it's like the difference between keeping your Nazi medals hidden away in a jewelry box or flaunting them on your chest; either way, you're still repugnant). It's ####### scary.

*Well, probably that was true in Phoenix, too, but (a) I was a grad student while living there & thus paid little attention & (b) people there are demonstrably both insane & senile, by & large.

I'm openly Republican.

Come give me a hug.
   25. gef the talking mongoose Posted: November 05, 2009 at 09:08 PM (#3379939)
Yeah, but are you openly Republican in a place (central Alabama, in my case) where the Democrats already tend toward the right of Fox News?

(One of my best friends -- he's been known to post here, in fact -- is a Republican, but I try not to think about it, lest I start weeping softly.)
