Kenny Rogers placed on waivers, could be traded soon | Freep.com | Detroit Free Press

The end is near.

Rogers is 9-11 with a 5.09 ERA in 27 starts. He has allowed opposing hitters a .312 batting average since the All-Star Game, according to STATS LLC.

When asked to assess Rogers’ performance the past month, manager Jim Leyland said, “At times, it’s a little tough for him. At other times, everything’s pretty good. But he’s always been a great-conditioned athlete. ... For the most part, he’s always ready to go. The good part about him is he’s got a way to figure things out. He can do some other things to get a hitter out.”

I think the Yankees should STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!

A rotation that includes Sidney Ponson and Kenny Rogers may make fans' heads explode.

Also, it adds to the possibility of a trivia question in fifty years, which reads, "What pitcher started the last game at Yankee Stadium? And no one wants that.

But if he's back by then, and especially if the Yankees are completely out of contention by then, I wouldn't be surprised if the answer is "Joba Chamberlain"

That's OK. I'd rather see Ponson serve as the answer to the question: "What Yankee started the first game at the new Yankee Stadium?"
