Kernan: CONTENT GOODEN STARTING A BASEBALL ACADEMY (RR)

“The halls smell like piss
The rooms are underlit”

(and here you thought Shea was closed down)

Gooden said he is excited about his new business, the Dwight “Doc” Gooden Baseball Academy that is scheduled to open Sept. 1 in Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J., and will offer instruction from tee-ball to college level. He will be moving his wife and kids from Baltimore to the area soon.

“This has always been a dream of mine,” he said. “I love to work with kids.”

Gooden will tell them about his success and his failures.

“I can take a negative and turn it into a positive with them,” he said.

“This business just won’t have my name on it; I’ll be there offering hands-on instruction and I want to go to the kids games when I can to see how they are doing,” Gooden added. “It’s not just going to be limited to pitching instruction. There’ll be cages, hitting instruction, a full infield, outfield instruction, weight training, all kinds of stuff. I can’t wait, I’m really excited about this.”

Change your attitude and you can change your fortune. Root for Dwight Gooden.

I wonder if Dwight will teach them the most effective manner to cut coke.

Okay, that's harsh. I wish him well in this.

Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J

That's a really doofy name for a town, but for my money, it's one of the nicest places I've ever been.

This one is a week-old knockoff of this:

Trivia: Gooden has moved to the same town, Franklin Lakes, where 3 of the 5 "Housewives of NJ" live.
Ask your spouse, if you've never heard of that new show on Bravo.
Bernie Kerik and Phil Simms also live there, as have Bernard King, Ernie Grunfeld, John Calipari, Keith Van Horn, Willie Randolph and others over the years.

I seriously had to read that 10 times before understanding it was "cun-TENT" Gooden as opposed to "CON-tent" Gooden. I'm very, very stupid.

I had to read your comment there a couple of extra times before I realized that "cun-TENT" wasn't a vulgar play on words. Damn celebrities and their groupies.

Okay, just let me know when someone opens a Licking Toads Lyceum.
