For a supposedly advanced college hitter, Hiura's numbers in the Midwest League weren't that special. 850 OPS, and more importantly, 24Ks in 115PAs? I mean, that's fine but really good prospects like Bichette and Vlad Jr were blowing that league away, and are younger.

At age 22 Ryan Braun put up a .784 OPS over 260 PA in the Southern League which wasn't in the top 30 for the league. The Brewers freaked out so they promoted him to Huntsville and he was in the majors the next season winning ROY. Hiura is 21, he was playing with a bad arm last season and now he's supposed to be healthy. Maybe he cranks and Villar is ###### come June or maybe he takes 2 years to figure things out or maybe he's ####. I do know 100 at bats doesn't tell anyone anything other than he played in 27 games in the Midwest League.

And he has a cool name.

I agree, if Hiura turns his body into a pharma lab he could EXPLODE as a top prospect.

I guess a .476 SLG is pretty good for having 0 HRs. Since 27 games is conveniently 1/6 of a season, he was on a
66 doubles / 12 triples pace. Not many walks, though. I don't think the strikeout rate was that bad.
Anyhoo, he's got to be better than the first-rounder from the previous year, Corey "The Say-Ray Kid". Ouch.
