LA reportedly hosting ‘09 Classic finals

Dodger Stadium, which has been undergoing a major facelift, will be home to the semifinals and finals of next year’s World Baseball Classic on March 21-23, the Los Angeles Times reported in its Friday editions, with the second round going to San Diego’s PETCO Park and Dolphin Stadium in Miami a week earlier.

Dang, I didn't expect to have the finals in San Diego again, but I was hoping. It was a ton of fun in '06. I'm looking forward to having the preliminary rounds here next year.

WBC in Dodger Stadium is going to help give it that really major league feel. Biggest stadium in MLB, biggest city suitable for WBC.

It will be nice as long as it doesn't rain. Despite reports to the contrary, it does rain in Los Angeles. And if it does rain, it would be very cold and miserable.

But I'll probably be there.

Yeah, I don't think they'll put Team Cuba's second round game in Miami.

It would be guaranteed to pack that stadium, but after the 10th guy runs onto the field with a "Down with Castro", it'll get slightly old.

Not if the Marlins make all the seats available, a la the '03 World Series.

Will Barry suit up for Team USA? He should be available.

I didn't realize USA was hosting this thing every time round. I kinda assumed Japan or Mexico or someone would host the next one.

I bet, eventually, another country will host once it gets off the ground.
