We will tell no whine before its 4:07 p.m time! (hiccup)
Sensitive to characterizations of his players as “whining” over visibility issues during Game 3 Tuesday afternoon, Cardinals manager Tony La Russa used blunt language to admonish media members for their presentation of the issue.
...Clearly irritated by media blowback, La Russa suggested his players were either baited into their criticism or were wrongly criticized for raising what amounts to a safety issue.
“If you don’t answer the question, then you’re not cooperative. If you do answer the question, you come out like excuse-makers,” La Russa asserted. “That really (angers me). If there’s one thing this team is not it is excuse-makers. ... The only thing that can not be ignored, it can be dangerous.”
He later added, “Anyone who would accuse this team of whining has not been around it. That’s an insult to me and to them.”

LaRussa and the Cards do seem to whine more than most but this is a valid point on his part. It really is a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation. The only other option is to give the Bull Durham non-answer answer and then people complain that you aren't interesting enough.

#8, it wouldn't be that hard to answer the question honestly yet not come across as whining. You could say "sure, the shadows make it hard to see the ball sometimes, but both teams have to deal with it."
He whined on national TV to the broadcasting crew about the strike zone, ffs.

anyway ... when i was just out of school, i went to dallas to try to get a job in some ad agency -- i didn't know any better -- turns out their creative director had worked on the gallo campaign with orson welles. he had these tapes of welles going through take after take, being a complete curmudgeon, blowing lines, b!tching about the dialogue etc. ... it was pretty wild.

If you google Youtube + Orson Welles there are quite a few out takes... I've always loved the Frozen Peas one.
More whining from the Drunken Cheater. Heard this song before.

There you have Orson Welles's tragic flaw--he couldn't even take a commercial lightly. He was in a TV production of The Man Who Came to Dinner in the early '70's (I think it was) and he was completely miscast--totally unfunny. You would have thought he would have had Sheridan Whiteside in his pocket, but, no, he had no sense of screwball absurd. No feeling for it. However, I bet those outtakes mentioned above would make great promotions for Gallo. Essentially, except for moments of respite, Welles's entire career as a director rests on outtakes. He, more or less, especially in the latter half of his career, but even earlier, never got beyond the outtake stage. It's wonder he has the standing he does (which is mostly deserved), considering the raw unfinished quality of much of his stuff.

The fake "More Drunk Orson Welles Outtakes" linked to after playing the above video is wicked wicked funny.

1. Shooty is in the Trust TreeWasn't that the precise intent?
What does he think of the people that call him an arrogant, steroid pushing, sanctimonious drunk?
They learnt it from YOU!

Clearly why Joe Torre did not succeed in St. Louis was he did not whine nearly enough. He could learn a thing or two from Whitey and TLR.
Cool, cool, cool.
