L.A. Times: Simers: There continue to be surprises from Dodgers’ Manny Ramirez (RR)

Come in Simers old boy
Take a seat, take the weight off your feet

So what about the reports from Boston that had him being moody and difficult?

“I don’t like to say much; I just like to play the game,” he says. “I talk, but when I talk in Spanish, I’m more comfortable.”

He likes to be comfortable, and says he never really was in Boston. “I couldn’t breathe there; it’s a small city and all on top of you. Here it’s spread out. I love it. I went out for sushi, sat back on a couch and no one cared. It’s like there’s 20 pounds less on my back here.”

And yet, here he is carrying the Dodgers, an air of excitement in the stadium again, and while the bitter folks in Boston might consider it fool’s gold, who are they kidding?

They’ve already seen the payoff.

Of course...Nelson de la Rosa died two years ago.

Take a seat, take the weight off your feet

It works better for a different Dodger:

"There's no longer a position for you,
Sorry, Andruw-Jones."

I have no doubt that he is in fact, more relaxed. I suspect Manny's the good-###, bad-### type. When he likes you, he simply adores everything about you. When he turns, it's all bad.

I'm also convinced that his exit was Boras orchestrated, so I hope fans in Boston keep their love for him.

TJ Simers wrote a positive column about somebody? It's a Manny Miracle.

Apparently, Manny has not found himself in a strange town.

Though he's only been there for three weeks now.

Bookmark it. Re-read it next year after Simers picks on him for a baserunning or fielding gaffe.

Why will Simers care what Manny does in New York?

its nice to see repoz posting more Simers. it ad's a little levity to this place that was sorely needed.

Naw, it's a negative article about Boston fans.

I'm still convinced you ARE Simers. Until I see the two of you together, I will not be dissuaded.

finally, someone posts a simers column ...
   15. Crispix Attacks Posted: August 21, 2008 at 04:40 PM (#2911536)
Three Simers threads in three days, and yet nobody wants to discuss the article I posted about the Mahoning Valley Scrappers' great comeback against the Jamestown Jammers. Are you all fans of baseball, or meta-baseball?!!?!?!?!??!

I'm going to go bump it right now.

HE'S NOTHING like the reputation. He's been approachable since day one, and remains so, most of the time poking fun at himself.

That's the way he was in Boston, much of the time. He'd have his weeks and months where he was in a good mood, and those where he was in a bad mood. When he was in a good mood, he was approachable and made fun of himself and was generally really fun to be around, by all reports. Why would anyone be surprised that Manny would be in a good mood after to moving to LA? We're not talking about Barry Bonds here.

By the way, doesn't Manny define moody? The fact that you mood is good some of the time doesn't mean you're not moody.

By the by, the ### out word there is the three letter version of boob. I'm surprised that's blocked.

'<u>T</u>its' was one of the seven original words, along with <u>s</u>hit, <u>p</u>iss, <u>f</u>uck, <u>c</u>unt, <u>c</u>ocksucker, and <u>m</u>otherfucker.

Even in today's profane media age, <u>f</u>uck, <u>c</u>unt, <u>c</u>ocksucker, and <u>m</u>otherfucker still have the ability to raise hackles.
   25. Perros Posted: August 22, 2008 at 03:18 AM (#2912405)
That's <u>m</u>otherfucker, <u>b</u>itch.

That was kinda fun, but I like guessing what words are ###### out.

Guess ############ is still too dirty to work around with html.

Wait 'til Biggus Dickus hears about this. And his wife...
