LATimes: Firm that represented Frank McCourt in bankruptcy goes bankrupt

Irony is one of our most overused words, but come on …

News has come from back east that the law firm of Dewey & LeBoeuf is filing for bankruptcy.

Besides the little detail that this is the largest law firm to go under in U.S. history, there is this one other notable fact:

The law firm going bankrupt is the same law firm that handled Frank McCourt’s bankruptcy of the Dodgers.

I'm pretty sure he listed a future settlement with Dewey as "security" for the last Fox loan. I'm guessing he's not going to get the settlement he touted.

Those responsible for sacking the people who have just been sacked have been sacked.

It's perhaps a bit more interesting that Bienenstock (sp?) landed at Proskauer, which supposedly has a sports practice (whatever that means). Anyone in the restructuring business knows there are more sports team bankruptcies coming down the pike.

Actually, who better to know when the right time to declare bankruptcy is than a bunch of bankruptcy experts?
