Again: From the ump's vantage point (six feet above the ground) he probably would not have seen the tag.

Looks like Nelson is like about 6 feet away when the tag is applied - at that angle, he should have still seen Cano's glove hitting Infante's side (the tag is in a weird place, but Infante is turned such that it should be visible from the first base side, where the umpire is.) Hard to say definitively, though.

Looks like Nelson is like about 6 feet away when the tag is applied - at that angle, he should have still seen Cano's glove hitting Infante's side (the tag is in a weird place, but Infante is turned such that it should be visible from the first base side, where the umpire is.) Hard to say definitively, though.

Here's the problem: Nelson is on the run. He needed to stop to get a good look.

Well, they aren't beating Verlander. So CC might take Game Four, but that is pretty much it as far as I can tell. In time, I may yet come to not regard this team with more than outright disgust--though I doubt I'll ever think of them fondly--but for now, they're pretty awful. The only upshot is that I'm pretty much past being angry and on to just ready for it to be over. Which is a sad commentary on what they've done to me this season.

At least he made a joke about the audience wishing Madden and Summerall were doing the football game instead of him and the other dude.

Girardi with a fair, not whiny at all plea for replay. Couldn't have said it better. Then the follow up question is pretty douchy and Girardi continues to be eloquent. Not a fan of his at all but it was a terrific statement on his part.

On the other hand, how freaking dominant are the Tigers? Except for Fat V inning, they've done nothing but throw bagels on the board for 28 innings!

The run Scherzer gave up was unearned, so (if I counted correctly) over the past 42 innings, the team ERA for the Tigers, ignoring pitches thrown by Valverde, is 0.00. I don't care how bad the Yankees offense is, that's impressive.

I think a lot depends on how confident you are in Carpenter. If Carp is right I think it's a wash but that's a lot to assume for a guy who missed almost the entire year.

Giants' starting pitching is a complete wild card. Those guys could be absolutely great, but all of 'em have looked vulnerable at times in the latter part of this season.

Just got in, watched the play...... I'm the first person to give the umpires the benefit of the doubt for positioning, but there's no way he should have missed this one. it makes no sense.

Cardinals are throwing out Cy Young candidate Kyle Lohse, former Cy Young winner and post season ace in Carpenter, and Adam Wainwright, yes the fourth pitcher is iffy, but versus the Giants, I see both teams being a wild card.

Recently I have been really paying attention to the time frames of these shows and they really bother me for some reason. NCIS is horrible with that, but it seems to be a standard trope nowadays to come up with a time span that isn't remotely realistic.
