Dear Mike Matheny---Scrabble = Valverde, don't use him.
You set a very low bar.
and marco scutaro leads off this inning with a single, too.
cards came back from being down 6-0 the last game - maybe this is their comeuppance, youneverknow. WHY the **** didn't matheny pull lynn as soon as it was obvious he had completely lost it?
I remember the radio jingle from my youthful days and it was catchy the first time around. Now it just seems forced. I absolutely do not see Major League baseball players singing that in the dugout or warming up on the mound. No friggin way.
us short people have to drink also. :)
Too busy trying to find a way to capture the "Sexiest" title as well as "Handsomest."
What happened to this zone? That was a strike 30 minutes ago.
yeah, timmeh is a great guy to watch. he's REALLY lost velocity though. using that changeup more, i see

You musta thought Pence was sexy back when he used to blink. Now he looks like a Marty Feldman-wannabe.
I can't tell, they keep showing the pitch from behind home plate.... ARGHH!!!! CFB SMASH STUPID TV DIRECTOR.
Scrabble is coming onto the field.
Seriously, why is this dude on the roster. If you want someone to throw lefty, let Jay pitch. The results will be no worse.
but he's just like, a guy. sexy is something else.
Wait! Don't they know VW already drove a bug into the water like, 40 years ago???
I'm reminded by my Scrabble buddy that proper names are not allowed. He does NOT bend the rules, either. Still, that name's gotta be worth at least 30 points, more on a bonus square.
edit: Per Kate Spanos it's worth 90 points, but only because of a 50 point bonus for making a word longer than 7 letters, plus it needs qty 2 "Z" tiles and the game only has 1.
I really wish the Cardinals would find a legitimate great lefty reliever. Every year we say we are going to get one and end up not actually bothering to even shop around for one.
We did find one last year, and now he sucks.
Of course this team definition of a good lefty, was their never ending quest(which eventually did end) for Brian Fuentes, who was never any good, even when he was "good".
/Nancy Kerrigan
he's slowed down since he left the astros, not sure why. he had really gotten his baserunning/basestealing to a higher level. now, he's lost a lot of that and is swinging at crap again.
cmon
the cards have had some decent leftys - no billy wags, true, but not all crap neither. am surprised that rzep is their only one. tells you that TLR really IS gone
and the cards should leave trever rosenthal in for more than 1 inning, if he can do it
Agreed. Cards are still 80% to win this game, but after watching all this insane postseason baseball I am very nervous.
Timmeh is out so Theriot can hit? Uh, ok.
Huh.
Maybe he just wanted to see some baserunning antics firsthand.
Hey, he's pretty toned.
Would love some more runs. Rosenthal should be good to go for another inning.
Hopefully Matheny is presented with the option of whether or not to pitch Rosenthal another inning or to pinch hit for him this inning.
We are going back to our usual Mujica-Boggs-Motte programming, apparently. Surely we can get a run off of Affeldt.
same thing with all the stupid crowd shots and closeups of manager in dugout.
blech
Not enough of one.
Why?
A true lack of understanding and presenting the game. They think the game is boring and need to personalize the game so close ups make you relate to the players since you can see their faces (you don't see them doing this nearly as frequently in football) and of course baseball is only about the pitcher vs batter and that there is no such thing as defense, so you don't need to show the whole field. Again the opposite of football. In football they show the entire line during the play so you realize it's a team game, meanwhile baseball shows only the pitcher, batter and catcher(which is the best angle for the pitch as it's being delivered) and they carry that philosophy on to the field, close up of the fielders so that you can see them field the ball, but you miss the entire showing of their range, you miss seeing the runner move down the line in time with the play, you are treated to a snapshot of the game, and it's because the producers think the game is boring, and don't seem to realize that their camera decisions are making it so.
Because it's a non-emotional song with not one piece of imagery that is unique to the U.S. you could literally replace america with several dozens countries and the song would resonate equally as well.
/wife
Different strokes I guess. I find it a lot more uplifting than the SSB.
If you wear a cap indoors you should be shot. :)
It's only slightly better than the America the beautiful, but I really wish that Neil Diamonds America would gain some traction(too long of a song for this type of thing though)
Same way Rosenthal wore his, no?
Edit:Note I do not support, nor will I ever support a anti flag burning amendment.. Talk about not "getting it".
It's High Socks Sunday for the Cards.
i always liked it when berkman wore high socks. only a few astros ever did - pence is one of em
Was folding laundry and only half paying attention, maybe. If so I approve of Rosenthals socks as well.
I support this.
So after Rosenthal and Mujica, I feel ok about this game. Not great. But ok.
I'm going to go with Hendrix's version of the SSB on 7/4/70.
Nasty, snarling, pugnacious version (better than Woodstock) with a blistering segue into Straight Ahead.
Either that or his version from Berkeley the same year.
Exactly.
On a side note, this series should once and for all end the confusion in my mind over Venezuelan pitchers Edward Mujica and Jose Mijares.
So you'd rather sort your sock drawer than watch Mujica pitch with knee-high socks in the playoffs???
