LCS OMNICHATTER DAY 6: ALCS GAME 4 REDUX and NLCS GAME 4 and BASEBALL VS. RAIN

New York Yankees (Sabathia) @ Detroit Tigers (Scherzer), 4:00 PM ET, TBS. Game 4 (DET leads 3-0, would clinch WS berth with win)... hang on, didn’t I type roughly this YESTERDAY? Oh, right, I did. BTW, 60% chance of rain tomorrow, although apparently it will be gone by 4. If not, I’m sure Miller Park’s grounds crew is on call and ready for action

San Francisco Giants (Lincecum) @ St. Louis Cardinals (Wainwright), 8:00 PM ET, FOX. Game 3 (STL leads 2-1). 30% chance of rain.

He should lose his job.

Were they also down 6-0?

To make it more of a fair fight, the Tigers should have to score more runs than the Yankees get hits.

Are we sure even this is fair?

At least we beat that loser showalter and his team of magic pixie dust fairies.
   111. bunyon Posted: October 18, 2012 at 05:49 PM (#4275815)
Tigers need to get more runs than Yankee errors. The Yankees can still make errors pretty well.

I was wondering about that too. Sure, going to Lowe or Eppley or whoever early in this game would've been a borderline white flag moment, but I'm still surprised that they had no-one ready this inning.

CC threw a massive number of pitches in the alds. His D did him no favors tonight but it was.clear early he didnt have it.

I would have been happy with an ALCS loss as the result of this season, especially winning a hard.fought division title and an exciting alds....but this has been such a downer...from the empty seats to the broken ankle to the inept offense and the arod drama that it will take some distance to think on it more fondly. Christ what a lousy showing.

What the hell happened to Scherzer in the middle of June? He's always had individual games where he looks like this, but now it's consistent.

A pyrric victory if there ever was one.

Jeter gets a hairline fracture on a foul ball and needs just a nudge to break it cleanly...
Sabathia has nothing left after grueling game 1 and game 5 starts...
And most importantly, Girardi lost all faith in a couple of his star players and laid the groundwork for an offseason of tabloid-fueled fireworks in NY...

While as a Red Sox fan I can't claim to be unhappy about the prospect of seeing the Yankees get swept, I'm finding it hard to work up my usual degree of schadenfreude about what Yankee fans must be feeling. I didn't think it was possible to take a 95-win season and make it end as sourly as the Sox seasons have ended the past two years, but the Yankees have somehow managed to pull it off, or at least come close. Nobody deserves to go through that.

I agree the situations aren't identical, but it sure looks like we're going to see a winter of NY talk radio and tabloid discontent and the team's highest-paid star player (if no longer its best player) run out of town on a rail, quite likely joined by the manager (not that he doesn't deserve it). I think there are some definite parallels with what's happened to the Sox these past two years.
