Puig had a better bat flip though. Up your game schwarber.
   102. What did Billy Ripken have against ElRoy Face? Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:15 PM (#5556445)
Oh, man, I bet Lackey is extra double pissed about being in the bullpen, what with having to dance and all. I hadn't thought about that.

EDIT: Or maybe he's teaching them all dressage.
   103. Infinite Yost (Voxter) Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:15 PM (#5556446)
I don't think one run is going to be a problem for the Cubs tonight.
   104. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:17 PM (#5556447)
Hoping the Cubs score a bunch early because no way I'm making it to midnight.
   105. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:17 PM (#5556448)
That defense is begging for a bunt.
   106. Zonk, Genius of the Stables Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:18 PM (#5556449)
Oh, man, I bet Lackey is extra double pissed about being in the bullpen, what with having to dance and all. I hadn't thought about that.

So you're saying it's got lots of upside
   107. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:19 PM (#5556450)
Oh Rizz.
   108. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:20 PM (#5556451)
Did willson just Puig pimp that single?
   109. Infinite Yost (Voxter) Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:21 PM (#5556452)
Puig may be overly-flamboyant, but he has one hell of an arm. Whew.
   110. Tom Nawrocki Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:21 PM (#5556453)
Holy mackerel, does Puig have a gun.
   111. Zonk, Genius of the Stables Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:21 PM (#5556454)
Encouraging, but I'd sure like to tack on at least one more.
   112. K-BAR, J-BAR (trhn) Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:22 PM (#5556455)
The only outs were made by Cubs who didn't bat flip.
   113. Howie Menckel Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:22 PM (#5556456)
32. Lassus Posted: October 17, 2017 at 07:10 PM (#5556313)
Man, that's gotta be a D on Gurriel's baserunning. Three runs isn't going to do it, I don't think.

CALL OF THE NIGHT. all others can only hope to win consolation prizes
   114. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:22 PM (#5556457)
Why aren't they showing the strike zone graphic?
   115. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:22 PM (#5556458)
Cubs have more hard hit balls this inning than the previous games combined.
   116. Andere Richtingen Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:22 PM (#5556460)
Did willson just Puig pimp that single?

I was going to say... don't admire your single off the bat.
   117. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:22 PM (#5556461)
Well that feels like a missed opportunity
   118. Zonk, Genius of the Stables Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:23 PM (#5556463)
F F F F F

Well, it's a lead... and both Bryant and Willsons hits were well struck.
   119. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:23 PM (#5556464)
Why aren't they showing the strike zone graphic?

It popped up blank the first couple of pitches for Hendricks. Guessing it's not working.
   120. Andere Richtingen Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:23 PM (#5556465)
Why aren't they showing the strike zone graphic?

Because TBS sucks.
   121. ERROR---Jolly Old St. Nick Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:24 PM (#5556466)
The Yankees play much better when I'm not watching :-)

And their comeback picked up steam when I could turn on the sound.

Who's playing in the National League game?
   122. Zonk, Genius of the Stables Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:24 PM (#5556467)
I was going to say... don't admire your single off the bat.

It may be less admiring than shock
   123. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:25 PM (#5556468)
Release your renegade.

Jeep.

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha
   124. Infinite Yost (Voxter) Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:26 PM (#5556470)
This game could go a long time.
   125. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:26 PM (#5556471)
Well that didn't take long.

Please report any suspicious characters here !
   128. Tom Nawrocki Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:26 PM (#5556474)
Who's playing in the National League game?

Don't worry about it. The Yankees aren't going to play either one of them.
   129. What did Billy Ripken have against ElRoy Face? Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:26 PM (#5556475)
Puig may be overly-flamboyant, but he has one hell of an arm. Whew.

I'm surprised he didn't flip his arm after that throw.

Welp, gents, I'm off to the watering hole to meet some folks for the rest of the game. Enjoy, and eamus catuli. I'll be at Wrigley tomorrow night.

EDIT: Sh*t.
   130. Zonk, Genius of the Stables Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:27 PM (#5556477)
Just a suggestion Kyle, but keeping the ball on the ground seemed to work better
   131. Lassus Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:27 PM (#5556478)
I had no idea Ethier was even still on the team.
   132. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:27 PM (#5556479)
Way too much of the plate on those.
   133. PreservedFish Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:27 PM (#5556480)
Huh. Andre Ethier still exists.
   134. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:28 PM (#5556481)
Is Wrigley really this quiet or is it just the badly placed mics ?

You can hear the hum of the Schwarber fridge in the dugout...
   135. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:28 PM (#5556482)
I've been saying it for a few games now, but I think that kzone is wrong. Haven't seen a single strike called on a pitch at the bottom of the zone these playoffs.
   136. Snowboy Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:33 PM (#5556485)
Outstanding observation from Darling that Joc Pederson took forever to get back in the box after that foul.
Hurt.
   137. Zonk, Genius of the Stables Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:33 PM (#5556486)
Welp.

   138. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:36 PM (#5556489)
Ok, heyward should definitely bunt if Turner backs up at all.
   139. Zonk, Genius of the Stables Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:36 PM (#5556490)
This would be a good time for Heyward to remember how he used to hit towering flyballs
   140. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:37 PM (#5556491)
Heyward sucks
   141. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:37 PM (#5556492)
That ball was crushed by heyward 300 feet. Monster shot for him.
   142. Zonk, Genius of the Stables Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:39 PM (#5556493)
I can only guess that MLB used to let him bat at 2B or something.
   143. Zonk, Genius of the Stables Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:42 PM (#5556494)
I am also starting to wish that Heyward would take the Milton Bradley social skills course so that I could at least move on to hating him... I'm getting sick of alternating between feeling a sympathetic frustration and sorry for him.
   144. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:42 PM (#5556496)
See what I'm saying about the kzone?
   145. PreservedFish Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:43 PM (#5556497)
Do you think Heyward is capable of another inspiring speech? Does he have any credibility in the clubhouse?
   146. PreservedFish Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:43 PM (#5556499)
I love how Hendricks looks mildly annoyed all the time.

   150. Tom Nawrocki Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:44 PM (#5556504)
Hendricks looks more than mildly annoyed right now.
   151. Meatwad Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:47 PM (#5556505)
Like they really need to score a #### load of runs here. Being at work during the game is agonizing when its close.
   152. K-BAR, J-BAR (trhn) Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:47 PM (#5556506)
it's not that the cubs are remotely scrappy underdogs. (Or really the astros for that matter.) but yankees-dodgers seems an apt baseball introduction to the Trump era.
   153. Infinite Yost (Voxter) Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:50 PM (#5556510)
For whatever reason, I just found myself searching for pictures of Yu Darvish and his wife. They are . . . differently sized.
   154. Zonk, Genius of the Stables Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:52 PM (#5556511)
These mid inning bench interviews are pointless, annoying, and must be stopped.

You should try watching Australian T20 cricket. They actually interview dudes while they're in the field.
   156. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:53 PM (#5556513)
I don't mind the manager interview that is between innings, but a player during live action is just torture.

It's all about watching some college basketball while he balances his checkbook for him.
   162. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:58 PM (#5556520)
Schwarbers's exit velocity on his out was probably twice Bryant's on that single.

Oh, new walk-up song for Rizzo.
   163. PreservedFish Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:58 PM (#5556521)
I can't hear Rich Hill, I'm listening to an 11 minute (ie 2-3 AB) cover of "Satisfaction" by an early Swedish psychedelic group.
   164. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: October 17, 2017 at 09:59 PM (#5556522)
Schwarber's grounder was hit 109.7 MPH... Great play by Bellinger

Darvish throws nastier pitches to Hendricks than to anyone else on the Cubs.
   187. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: October 17, 2017 at 10:23 PM (#5556552)
Some baserunners a couple innings, but still way too easy for Darvish.

Why is it so fun to watch Rizzo play defense?

Isn't the whole point of a bunt for the base runner to run?
   190. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: October 17, 2017 at 10:31 PM (#5556565)

   194. Infinite Yost (Voxter) Posted: October 17, 2017 at 10:33 PM (#5556569)
Taylor was the outiest out guy who was ever out on that play. I'm a little surprised that Bellinger couldn't get one in the air, of all people.
   195. K-BAR, J-BAR (trhn) Posted: October 17, 2017 at 10:33 PM (#5556570)
With the wind blowing out against this Cubs' lineup, three runs should be enough to win it.
   196. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: October 17, 2017 at 10:33 PM (#5556571)
Taylor really wanted to make an out on the bases (contact play I'm sure).
   197. Tom Nawrocki Posted: October 17, 2017 at 10:34 PM (#5556572)
that was Hernandez-esque

I know!. I think he had 23 career HRs in 1000+ ABs in the minors.

Edit 23 HRs in 1972 PAs. Nuts.

I hadn't realized that Hendricks went to Dartmouth. I suspect he and I know people in common, which is weird to think about.
