They then fire Buck Showalter, hire Terry Francona and win the 2013 World Series maintaining Buck's near-perfect record.

What is funny is that this will more than likely be mentioned, but Giants having more national league titles than the Cardinals will probably not be mentioned.
aka "pennants"
aw, c'mon, gamingboy, we're just having a little fun. thanks for all yer hard work!!!
*gives gamingboy a noogy*
Who would have been the Yankees MVP? Ibanez? Ichiro?
On the bright side, there's only like a 50% chance of that happening.
Which one, the no-hitter, the "something" or the bender?
The no hitter, of course. Zito throwing a CGSO is probably 85%.
Who knew Beltran had it in him?
I know now it is, but I thought it's original purpose was for excellence in broadcasting.
With a helping hand from a wide strike zone.
I would have said that in Gm 1 too...
Though I agree he is looking great so far. Great fb, good control.
1-2-3 strike-out of side [X]
Impressive.
That zone better be for both sides, Zito's only chance is if Eric Gregg's strike zone makes an appearance
He should change his name to Hunter Farthing.
EDIT: SOFT DRINKS!
So long as they are served.... COLD!

I have never noticed it mentioned where he has ever flirted with it
No more letting Zito off the hook here.
Dammit, Lynn.
He'd also need both desperation and time. I just can't seem him spending all of 2014 on some AAA team trying to master the pitch.
At least so far this is going a lot better than 1996.
Oh, it was supposed to be, but like any award for which there are no reasonably objective criteria, it became a popularity contest. We complain about the MVP and CY Young voting, but even batting average and wins are objective in the sense that different players have different numbers and the voting is influenced by the numbers. If it wasn't, the MVP every year would be Derek Jeter. For broadcasting, there's no number except years of service, which does seem to be a significant factor in Frick voting, along with the intangible.
Personally, I like Shannon a great deal, but of course that's partly sentimental. Even besides that, though, he projects a persona that's pleasant to have around for three hours on a summer evening, is basically fair to the opposition despite being a lifetime employee of the team he covers, and doesn't insinuate that players during his career were better or more solid fundamentally than players now.* And he's funny as heck, at least to me.
* Edit: In fact, I've heard him express the opposite opinion, which is rare and refreshing.
Concur.
Nope. This is not a great showing, offense. Why was Lynn even swinging?
I say give that man an award. Being pleasant, fair and funny on a daily basis... that is pretty rare. As Jim Wisinski would probably confirm, ultra-competence is hard to find.
Jim Abbott
Most years I like Shannon, but I try to make it a point to rejudge announcers etc on an annual basis, since I've seen Shannon be useless, great and so-so and poor in a span of about 8-12 years. Al Hrabosky has gone from poor to good to so so in that same time frame. (And as the Brenly thread has shown, same could be said about other announcers)
Shannon is very fun when he is having a good time, but this year it seems like he was disappointed in the Cardinals choice for manager and has basically ragged (post all star break) on anything that the team does that could be remotely considered management's fault. It makes me not even want to have the radio on.
Can't say for sure, but there are 25+ players and at least a dozen position players, that it probably warrants two hitting coaches. Being opposite handed is just a bonus.
I know, right? How dare they!
Harvey has the right attitude.
I laughed.
EDIT - Coke to GB
but that's me
Interesting. I haven't heard him much this season. I wonder who he wanted to be the manager? Oquendo?
I hope Lynn's struggles after the third inning this post-season don't make them banish him to the bullpen forever.
I am considering the imminent disaster of this Crawford GS.
Plus, Zito is throwing a CGSO, so that was the game right there.
