Let go by the Tigers, Toby Harrah deserved better

Just one year ago, the Detroit Tigers were raving about the job that Harrah had done after joining the team in mid-season. In the first month after Harrah joined the staff, the Tigers improved their offensive output by a full run per game. Now, Harrah has been cut loose, as new manager Brad Ausmus decided not to retain him as part of his staff.

Hope the Nats hire the last active (expansion) Washington Senator in some capacity. We need closure.

I think i still have a Toby Harrah baseball card I cut out of a box of cereal when I was a kid. Now I need to find it.

Harrah spelled backwards is harraH. Good player, I have no clue whether his hiring had something to do with the Tiger's hitting or it was a coincidence. The Sr. hitting instructor is now manager in Seattle, and he didn't hire Harrah either..............

We all lament his failure to have Bob or Otto as a first name.

I'm trying to recall if any decent baseball palindromes exists.

"Sit on a potato pan, Otis" could, I suppose, be applied to Otis Nixon or Amos Otis, but that's cheating.

Lee May: Yam Eel.

That wasn't his nickname? It should have been.

Thanks, BLB! Neat to see that my Amos Otis comment echoed one there.

There have been a few more Salases, most notably Fernando, to play since that 2005 discussion.

And here's a minor-leaguer to help fill out the roster.

Dealing with so many palindromes makes me anxious. I need a xanax.

These read like "hints" in those random video trivia games I've seen at dive bars. Not that I ever go to dive bars, mind you.

Or if Joey Votto's parents had named him after his Uncle Otto...
