Little League Theft: Redlands League Treasurer Admits To Stealing $5K From League

The poor young sluggers of the Redlands East Valley Little League in Redlands, Calif. have gone most of this season without uniforms, bathrooms or a snack bar.

Why? Because the treasurer of the league, Kathrine Burrola, embezzled $5,000 out of the league’s fund, CBS reports.

Burrola admitted to stealing the money because she hadn’t worked in two years, and she vowed to replace the funds. However, soon after she said that, she pulled her son out of the league and disappeared.

Classy. Anybody who knows Barrola’s whereabouts or is able to donate money, let them know.

I don't think we had bathrooms (just went in the woods) or a snack bar at my little league games and we got along fine, but you gotta have at least a cap and a t-shirt or something for a uniform.

I'm glad they do these days. One night, during a summer league game against Verona, I had a bout of crippling stomach cramps, and had to run back as far into the woods as possible to let loose with the resultant diarrhea. Luckily, I wasn't starting that day (and almost never started).

This story pops up every so often in my local newscasts. People are broke, they have access to money, they think they're too smart to get caught, police come to their door. And they wind up trading several years of freedom for a few thousand bucks (which they have to pay back, of course). Crazy.
