Lorenzo Cain saved the Brewers by robbing a home run for game’s final out

Baseball is back, as the league celebrated Opening Day on Thursday.

And it didn’t take long for something awesome to happen, as Milwaukee’s Lorenzo Cain made a home run-robbing catch for the final out that gave the Brewers a 5-4 win over the St. Louis Cardinals at Miller Park.

Jose Martinez ripped what looked to be a game-tying home run against Josh Hader but then Cain leaped at the wall and made an excellent catch that sent the home crowd into hysterics.

It was quite a way to end a season opener and probably won’t be forgotten for some time in. Milwaukee:

Highlight of the season so far. :)

And to everyone who says you shouldn't celebrate when you do something awesome, watch this. It is amazing.

Fun way to start a season.

Cain is the kind of player you still root for, even though he excels for a division rival.

and lost in all this is the fact that the PITCHER hit the game winning run - the PITCHER hit a home run to pretty much dead center. off the team's ACE. not some AA kid called up

to summarize, the DH SUCKS

also, lo cain is teh awesomeness

That was a great play. I tend to be less impressed with home run saving catches because a lot of times it's a ball the outfielder should get. He gets to the fence, sets himself, then jumps. Yeah it's tough but a ball an MLB outfielder should get. This wasn't so easy, he was pretty much at a full sprint when he went into his leap. Great play.

Not only was it a great play, but it'd be a hoot if the Cardinals wound up missing the postseason by one game.

I've been to 21 of the past 25 Brewers openers, figures I'd miss this one.

The play was great regardless of the celebration. Lorenzo Cain is a great ballplayer, and I love watching him play defense. That's a cool way to end an opening day game against a division rival. The celebration didn't add anything to my enjoyment of the play.

This Jarrod Dyson catch in Miami is my favorite full sprint over the wall catch. I also remember one from like 2003 or so by Carlos Beltran against the Mariners that was one of the coolest plays I have ever seen in person.

Sure am glad the Mets pursued Jay Bruce instead.
