Luzardo, Puk strong in returns for Ports | MiLB.com News

A.J. Puk, MLB.com’s No. 35 overall prospect, struck out four over two innings, allowing one run in his first appearance since 2017. He was followed by 13th-ranked Jesus Luzardo, who threw three scoreless frames before Class A Advanced Stockton rallied for a 4-3 victory over San Jose at Banner Island Ballpark.

One or both of these guys, plus Theoretical Manaea circa early/mid-August... A's could suddenly be very dangerous indeed.

I think Luzardo comes back as a starter and Puk in the bullpen. Luzardo and Manaea would be huge upgrades to the rotation. Hopefully they can come all of the way back without setbacks. It will be interesting to see if they do anything at the trade deadline.

Absolutely - a starting rotation of

Montas
Fiers
Anderson
Manaea
Luzardo

is suddenly really good.

Lefty-heavy, maybe, but "more balls hit to Matt Chapman" is a good problem to have.
