Major League Baseball Has A Cocaine Problem

Don’t have any idea if this is true, but if it is, it is a serious problem. The author’s sources suggest 25% of players are cocaine users. I think this is worse than steroids. At least those players are trying to be better.

Sooo...basic detective work from The source appears to be Steve Clevenger, who was on the 2012 Cubs with Starlin Castro, a current All Star. Only one other infielder who was a rookie in 2012 and retired last year after being with three different organizations.

Clevenger got a cup of coffee in 2011 but was a rookie in 2012. Castro was signed as a free agent out of the Dominican, and was already an established player in 2012, albeit not one making "real money" yet at the time. He signed his extension at the end of August, which included a $6M signing bonus, so maybe he was celebrating? Castro's had some legal troubles, and has reportedly burned some relational bridges due to his attitude, so maybe he "fits the profile"?

It could also be Jordan Pacheco, who debuted with the Rockies in 2011 but was a rookie in 2012, in which case the current MLB All Star is either Charlie Blackmon or DJ LeMahieu. Neither of them was established yet at the time, so it seems unlikely they'd have invited another rookie out for coke and clubbing and what not.

Yes, I am mildly annoyed, since the other post is getting all the traffic and mine went up three hours earlier.
