Man Suspected Of Smashing Muni Bus After World Series Arrested

But I’m out…and I’m back!

Police in San Francisco have arrested a 22-year-old man on charges of vandalism related to a public transit bus that was destroyed after the Giants won the World Series.

Gregory Tyler Graniss of San Francisco was taken into custody Tuesday on felony charges of vandalism and injuring or destroying a passenger transit vehicle.

Police cited tips and a photo published by the San Francisco Chronicle as help in tracking down Graniss. The photo shows a man smashing the windshield of the bus late Monday, as the city celebrated its World Series sweep against the Detroit Tigers. The transit bus was also torched.

My team just won the World Series. Ergo, I shall destroy this bus. Perfectly sensible line of thinking, no?

I think it's more "my team just won the World Series. Ergo, there are lots of crowds about and the powers that be are less vigilant, so now would be an ideal time to indulge my urges to destroy a bus" Not that that's sensible either, but it's a bit different.

That's one of the upsides of social media. Makes it harder for these idiots to get away with this kind of stuff. I'm not a big fan of the big brother/surveillance society, but a world where people don't feel the need to smash or burn things when their team wins a championship is OK with me.

...injuring or destroying a passenger transit vehicle.

I didn't know you could "injure" a vehicle. "Damage," sure.

There were drunken idiots out in front of my house setting off Roman candles. I had to chase them off, and they ran across the street and started up again. At one point, one of them knocked the lit one over and it started shooting off sideways. Then the cops showed up and everyone scattered. But yeah, drunken idiots.

It was literally a "hey you kids, get off my lawn" moment.

My wife and I are walking through our SF neighborhood last night and this younger woman all the sudden starts ranting and yelling to the guy she is with about something. I eventually put the prices together. She walks by a" congrats Giants" window display at the local tailor and starts to yell about how it's Ok to burn cars and sabotage buses if the Giants win, but when she wants to do it... She gets arrested. Se goes on and on like this.. Saying how it's unfair, and she doesn't even like baseball.

It was a magical moment.

Don't be so quick to judge. For all you guys know, that bus killed his mother and he's been waiting his whole life for the chance to get some revenge.

Man, I understand wrecking stuff if you lose, but if you win?

Sometimes, when you drink too much, you think you have the power to bend time -- this poor deluded fellow clearly just thought he was in a position to prevent Speed from occurring...

I find, in such circumstances, it's best to remember that time travel must be approached cautiously -- and in such circumstances, my love for Sandra Bullock would have probably trumped my distaste for Keanu Reeves.

During his senior season in 2007-08, Graniss was a key member of the San Marin High School basketball team that helped turn the program around and helped it qualify for the postseason.

Just another frustrated ex Jock who probably didn't go to class much. Linky

Here's a photo of the attack, taken from the inside of the Muni bus.

Mitt Romney is horrified at the attack on a relative of Mr. Bus.
