Luckily, Mariano Rivera is not more superhuman than Manny.

When NY scored in the 10th, I figured that was it for the Sox. Then I saw Lansing lead off and thought that Jimy had given up as well. When Everett lined the ball over Jeter's head (Obviously, a better defensive shortstop would have been able to jump 9 feet in the air to snag it, but that is another story) and brought Manny to the plate, my body involuntarily curled into the fetal position. My wife, sitting on the couch, noted that my "girlfriend" is up(See FantasyMan: Baseball is Ruining My Marriage). This is why Boston signed him: 2 outs, bottom of the 9th and the winning run on second AND against the $@#$%&& Yankees! When his liner nearly decapitated Rivera and went into center field, I danced with glee. I called my Yankee fan brother and laughed maniacally into his answering machine because the coward wouldn't pick up his phone( side note: he called me earlier to ask me how I felt about Manny striking out in nearly 50% of his at-bats. The irony of it all makes me giggle.)

After I settled down, a single tear streamed down my cheek. A tear that displayed how truly happy I was about the just occurred events. My wife, who does happen to enjoy watching the Red Sox with me, had danced with me and now is just as elated that Manny is a Red Sox. She let it be known, however, that threesomes are out of the question.
