Marty Brennaman goes bald for a cause; raises $50K for Reds Community Fund

Woo-hoo! I haven’t seen a Red get shaved like this since Jan Micheal Vincent in Tribes!

hu

Tens of thousands stayed to watch fireworks and see Hall of Fame broadcaster Brennaman uphold his vow. Brennaman said he would have his head shaved if the Reds won 10 straight games, which they recently did.

“I’m a man of my word,” a grinning Brennaman said, with his locks shorn on the field. “I never dreamed it would get this big.”

If announcers are doing stunts for charity, how much to get Hawk Harrelson to let them sew his mouth shut?

May I be the first to point out that he is not a
Hall of Fame broadcaster
. He won a Sportscaster award but is not a member of the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

Maybe the Reds Hall of Fame?

Hokey, but this was cool and everyone got into it. He audibly said "bull ####\" on air when the mc guy said he looked better.

Is there a terrible broadcaster alive who hasn't won some sort of award or "hall-of-fame" tagging?

If you click through, the pictures do show he does look better now.

I am not, in general, a fan of Brennaman's, but good for him. He's a man of his word, and $50k ain't chump change.

I prefer the method Iceman King Parsons used on Buddy Roberts.

Just had to get Head & Shoulders to sponsor it first

[11] Just had to get Head & Shoulders to sponsor it first

Head & Shoulders is a brand owned by Procter and Gamble, which is headquartered in Cincinnati.

There was almost a preliminary to the on-the-field post-game shearing. Head & Shoulders donated $5,000 to the Reds Community Fund with the thought of giving Brennaman a pre-cut shampooing, “But they decided there wasn’t enough time, but they still donated the money,” said Brennaman.

Because shampooing takes such a long time. It was nice that they gave, though.

Classy gesture by Marty, and the Reds Community Fund is awesome.

Reds Community Fund

On sold out nights, that Split the Pot gets up over $20,000.

Charlie Sheen, who is a huge Reds fan, for reasons I am still not sure of, matched the $50 grand that was donated on the Marty Brennaman buzzcut night. So, $100,000 to the Reds Community Fund for Marty shaving his head
