Meet the Angels’ bullpen coach who doubles as a punk-rock star in the offseason | For The Win

The pursuits may seem inherently contradictory to just about everyone but Los Angeles Angels bullpen coach Scott Radinsky. Perhaps the only person in history who has both struck out Ken Griffey Jr. and opened for Green Day, Radinsky spent the 1990s pitching as a high-energy lefty reliever in Major League bullpens and spent his offseasons — still spends his offseasons — touring as a frontman for a series of Southern California-based punk outfits, first as a founding member of the group Ten Foot Pole and, for the last two decades, as the lead singer in his band, Pulley.

and opened for Green Day,

Big deal. First time I played with The O'Jays, Chaka Khan opened for us. Gladys Knight has opened a few other shows.

Ten Foot Pole was cool in the way most early 90's Epitaph label bands were. The sound got pretty old quickly, but it was fresh at the time.

I banged my head to that track when it came out. Sounds a bit dated now.

Ten Foot Pole

Is that a D&D reference?

Hey, I used to like Ten Foot Pole. This is very cool, I did not know this.

So he sings punk, played and now coaches in the MLB... If you throw in big wave surfing the dude is pretty much covered the holy trinity of awesome jobs.

I really could not think of a better way to earn cash.

#7, well yes.

I would imagine that being a rock star(albeit minor punk) and being a professional athlete is definitely a door opener to meeting the fairer sex(or same sex if you go that way).

If it were me, I'd definitely would've taken the George Brett, D. Jeter route and kept myself single throughout my 20's and 30's.

No, but he's the co-owner of the Skateboarding Hall of Fame.

OK, that's just as good. What a legend.

I remember this from when he was playing. I even remember a 'zine or two interviewing him, where he said he only tried out for baseball to get out gym class, and when he was told he was drafted, he wasn't sure what that meant.
