Kenley Jansen, Matt Bush, Bud Norris, and AJ Ramos with one of those last 3 about to be cut to make room for a starter on my bench. Started the season enjoying the Francisco Rodriguez Experience, but I pulled the trigger on that nonsense faster than the Tigers did.

The league I joined has a nice feature, although not sure if it's by accident or by design: we only have two RP spots on our active roster, and since we are 12 and use both NL and AL, there are enough closers to go around. The only difference is that closers that have the SP position (Bud Smith and Raisel Iglesias are the only ones right now) are insanely valuable.

I guess it might be better to just get rid of SV altogether, but given that I hate playing the closer lottery, that'll do.

Any medical professionals want to weigh in on whether surgery will prevent another clot? I care less about his career than his life, and this could have killed him.

I am no certainly no medical professional, my medical knowledge being limited to what little first aid and anatomy my unit's corpsman taught me in the field* and the much greater amount I later learned in EMT school. My experience was limited to evening and weekend EMT work while a graduate student. However, EMT school trainers and ER staffers did teach me that this was indeed a serious condition that required prompt surgical treatment and which could recur. There was no mention of baseball pitchers.

* I also learned some anatomy by seeing parts of my body opened up. A slash across the top of my right hand traversing the first knuckle of my ring finger gave me an amazing view of what the inside of a knuckle looked like and how a knuckle worked, and later I got to see an interior view of how an elbow works. No big deal, though: just some old scars now and an elbow that won't quite unbend to perfectly straight.
