Mets Sign Pedro Feliciano

The Mets announced that they have signed Pedro Feliciano to a minor league deal.  The deal includes an invite to major league spring training.

Feliciano, 36, is coming off a two-year, $8MM deal he signed with the Yankees.  Unfortunately, injury problems kept him from throwing a single big league inning for the Bombers during that time.  Yankees GM Brian Cashman said in 2011 that the Mets “abused” Feliciano by relying on him to pitch constantly.

Will the Cardinals now sign Chris Duncan just to counter when the Mets bring in Feliciano?

Yankees GM Brian Cashman said in 2011 that the Mets “abused” Feliciano by relying on him to pitch constantly.
And knowing the Mets "abused" Feliciano, Cashman signed him to a two year contract.

now, he'll throw in 50 games before July 31st...then get traded back to the Yankees and promptly end up back on the DL

I love this plan. I'm excited to be a part of it.

But they have said they have no interest in Peter Moylan because he was "used too much". I think the Mets are the smartest team in Bizarro Planet.

I literally had no idea that the Yankees had Feliciano the past two years, nevermind that they were paying him $8M.

Pretty sweet for Mets fans - send in a mole to burn $4 million a year off the Yankees payroll, then steal him back after the last detonator cap has fired.

He will be remembered as fondly as Ryan Madson was in Cincinnati, El Duque with the Expos, or Pokey Reese with the Mariners.

These guys need to learn to follow the example of Juan Guzman with the Rays and put in a better effort to live up to their contracts.
