Michael Weiner and Jim Duquette & daughter to be honored by BBWAA

Players’ union head Michael Weiner and former Mets general manager Jim Duquette and his daughter, Lindsey, have been voted the Arthur Richman You Gotta Have Heart award by the New York chapter of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America.

Weiner, who has worked for the players’ association since 1988, announced in August that he is being treated for a brain tumor.

Duquette donated a kidney in June to 10-year-old Lindsey. She had suffered from Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis, a leading cause of kidney failure in children.

The award will be presented at the chapter’s annual dinner on Jan. 19.

I'm sure that was the easiest decision Jim Duquette has ever had to make.
