1. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: May 24, 2008 at 12:17 AM (#2792333)Look, I get that the guy is flawed. And maybe he never will hit .270 in the majors which puzzles me to no end.
But he scores runs.
Obviously that hasn't happened.
I will say that this his "stuff" has been ok. But his control has been terrible. 16 walks in 19 innings!
Let us see if this will be sufficiently sarcastic:
Oh yes I agree totally! This announcement proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that he was injured when he blew all those ballgames for the Red Sox last year, and just didn't want to admit it to anyone! Because a closer that there are whipspers about being a bonifide no-more-steroids-anymore headcase will recieve much much much better contract offers than a closer who had an injury that was treated!

And why are you up at 6:35 AM? Or are you still up at 6:36 AM?
This is CSI:Bedford Falls! DNA off the steering wheel, the cops find him wandering aimlessly on a bridge nearby, pulling petals out of his pocket; they'll get him in the box and sweat the truth out of him.
Rickie's only hitting .223 on balls in play.
That can't continue. I mean, it just can't. Pure luck will bump his average (and, correspondingly, his OBP and SLG) up with playing time.
The worst thing that could happen production-wise for Weeks would be to bench him.
On the other hand, who really cares...
That OBP's not too bad considering his batting average, but you still wouldn't expect him to score that many runs given his stat line and the struggles of the rest of the offense. Is he especially good at going from first to third/second to home? Or does Braun hit especially well with Weeks on base?
