Minnesota Twins manager Ron Gardenhire is going with Delmon Young in left field - TwinCities.com

Phew, I’m glad this issue has finally been settled.

After a few months of thinking about it, Ron Gardenhire has settled upon his left fielder: It’s the calm, levelheaded guy the Twins received from Tampa Bay in November.

Gardenhire met with Delmon Young on Sunday to tell him he has decided to leave Michael Cuddyer in right field and shift the newcomer - the Rays’ right fielder last season - to left. He also let Young know that he appreciated that Young did his best to stay out of a long-distance verbal skirmish with former teammate Carl Crawford last week.

Yeah, let's get back to the more important business of talking about the shoulders of Red Sox pitchers.

Gardenhire also said he wants to bat Morneau in the cleanup spot, and perhaps Mauer in the two-hole. That splits up the lefties...possibly DYoung between them, but then again he might like Young in the fifth spot.

No hint here as to who is ahead in the three-way battle for CF, or what's going on at 2B.

The press likes Nick Punto, I can tell you that. They haven't gotten around to introducing the Twin Cities to Harris yet. Or Pirdie for that matter. It's all Gomez and Demon Young.
