MJS: Wolf released; Bianchi called up

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY, RANDY!”

The Brewers have released left-hander Randy Wolf, who has struggled to a 3-10 record and 5.69 ERA.

. . . .

Wolf was in the third year of a three-year free agent deal the Brewers gave him before 2010 season worth a total of $29.75 million. That deal included a club option for $10 million for 2013 with a buyout of $1.5 million, which the Brewers will have to pay.

Perhaps the gray wolf IS an endangered species in Wisconsin after all.

The Nats DFA'd Rick Ankiel earlier this year on his birthday. Isn't this the sort of thing the Athletics' clubhouse should be up in arms over?
