mlb.com: Manny apologetic about end of Boston tenure

BOSTON—After a spring and summer of silence in Los Angeles, Manny Ramirez is suddenly very chatty as a member of the Chicago White Sox. One of the side benefits of Ramirez switching teams is that he is back in one of his former haunts—Fenway Park—this weekend.

Although Friday’s game was postponed more than four hours before the scheduled first pitch, Ramirez was at Fenway in the afternoon and more than willing to engage with a small group of reporters outside the visitors’ clubhouse. Ramirez was openly apologetic for the sour way his memorable tenure with the Red Sox ended.

“Everything was my fault, but you have to be a real man to realize when you do wrong,” Ramirez said. “It was my fault, right. I already passed that stage. I’m happy. I’m on a new team.”

Another revealing comment Ramirez made is that if the Red Sox had been awarded the waiver claim for his services instead of the White Sox, he would have approved a move back to Boston for the stretch run. Johnny Damon, another member of the historic 2004 Red Sox, wouldn’t veto his no-trade rights after Boston claimed him from the Tigers last month.

I read that headline as "Manny apoplectic." Quite a difference!

Did he address, or did anyone ask him, any of:

* The Rivera three-pitch AB
* Whether he "flopped" onto the ball in LF or just slipped
* Whether he faked any injuries to stay out of games at the end

I'll ask him when I see him tonight.

It seems Manny likely beleives he has already addressed specific questions with his statements of "What I did here in the past is in the past." and "That's in the past. I'll just leave it there."

If anyone wants more, guess we will have to wait for him to write his memoir after retirement.

A non-ghost-written memoir from Manny would be fun stuff indeed.

There really is no excuse for Red Sox fans that are ######## about Manny.

I really don't understand how this comment follows the part you quoted.

I'm pretty sure the answer to the first question and part 2 of the second is Dustin Pedroia, but frankly, I don't think it would be fair to expect Manny to remember that.

I've never understood why some people don't think all of the above can be true. And the answer to the first one is: "Dustin Pedroia". He played in every game between Manny pushing down McCormick and getting traded.

And you all forgot, "Blew through third base stop signs, loafed down the line, and drove in the commute lane by himself.

edit: Seriously SOSH? I just spent going through a month's worth of game-logs for you to step in and steal my joke? You're worse than Manny.

Manny is going to fit in nicely as the Yankees' DH next season... (ducking)

Yeah. I actually think he will be the DH for the Yankees, Angels, or White Sox, and will hit well next year.

Well, at least he won't need an interpreter in Washington Heights.

Or the Bronx or much of Brooklyn. Manny and New York were made for each other.
