MLB: Larry Bowa meets with Astros general manager Luhnow

Hey Goldstein…I trust that was a round-trip ticket!

Larry Bowa, a longtime Major League player, manager and coach, was at Minute Maid Park on Friday to meet with Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow.

Luhnow, who picked up Bowa at the airport on Friday morning, would not confirm whether Bowa was a candidate for the club’s full-time managerial position. Bowa described the meeting as an “exchange of baseball ideas.”

Luhnow later said in a text message to MLB.com: “Larry is here to meet with me on some baseball related matters.”

Bowa’s visit to Houston came one day after Nationals third-base coach Bo Porter was in town to interview. The Astros began interviewing managerial candidates this week in an effort to find a full-time manager. Brad Mills was dismissed last month after nearly three years at the helm of the club, and Tony DeFrancesco has been managing the club on an interim basis.

But did they drink Bushmills?

And did the new pro scouting coordinator ask them what they were drinking?

Oh man, in Philly we had the Ed Wade era and the Larry Bowa era simultaneously. One, then the other, sounds like torture.

Jesus, Crane won't even pay for a cab from the airport.

Market inefficiencies!

with a bunch of minor league rejects? no decent major leaguers except altuve???

LARRY BOWA????

good thing the divorce is going through before that disaster. you know what this is like? it's like when your gf leaves the guy who yells at her and makes her cry for the guy who beats her up, steals all her stuff and rapes her kids

you wanna see my reaction?? you wanna see my (swear words) reaction??? well you just picture one of those rambo/vandamme kung phhoey guys only in shorts and a tshirt AND hair totally in place going totally berserk and there's like bodies flying everywheres with each biff bam POW and when the carnage is all over i climb to the top of the pile of bodies and pound on my chest and do a tarzan yell with scalps of luhnow/crane/bud selig/bowa getting shook in my hands - and mind, my nails are still perfect ok

only i really don't care no mo because of the divorce and thing is i was planning on rooting for the pirates only as soon as i decided that, they started with all this losing stuff, so now i find myself forced to root for the yankees so they'll lose the rest of the games this year

Since Larry never wrote "Bleep! Part 2" while managing the Phillies, perhaps managing the retooling Astros would enable him to finally pen the sequel.

Rays bench coach Dave Martinez supposedly interviewed very well. I think he'd be a great hire.
