MLB: Can Guillen, Thomas coexist?

New third base coach Joey Cora on Ozball…..Ozzie was saying that we are going to be in this together. If it?s time to move the runner over, then we are going to do it as a team. He just came from the Florida Marlins, where you saw Ivan (Rodriguez) and (Derek) Lee bunting guys over during the playoffs.

I must have been on a beer run around then.

As a Royals fan, all I can say is- Go Ozzie!

Oh, and make Willie Harris the starting second baseman/leadoff hitter. 'Cause that would work, too.

Derrek Lee's career sac hit total: 0.

i can't wait for the white sox to open the season 9-1, when ozzie will be the toast of the town. then, after they collapse, and they will collapse, they'll blame it on the b-hurt not being a "team player".

I'll take the under.

I'll take the waaaay under on that Max. March 26th is more like it.

I'm sorry, #17 is just making me sit here snickering.

But if Banner's going to play a sport, it should be basketball: Who's going to get in his way when he drives to the hole? Of course, he'd probably get drafted by the Trail Blazers, and things would go south about halfway through the first practice.

Ugh.

Congrats Twins, Royals, and Indians on beating my White Sox in 2004.
   8. Kris Posted: December 05, 2003 at 11:38 PM (#386128)
I want to believe this awful offseason has been a bad dream. I want to wake up and see the Sox not cutting payroll, but acting like a big market team and adding some. Instead I've got Maggs salary dump trade rumors and ####### Ozzie Guillen telling the Big Hurt to bunt. I hate Kenny Williams and I hate ####### Jerry Reinsdorf. At least the cubs didn't make the world series.
   9. Kris Posted: December 05, 2003 at 11:39 PM (#386129)
Umm that should be Jerry ####### Reinsdorf, shheesh.
   10. Scott B Posted: December 05, 2003 at 11:40 PM (#386131)
My only hope is a full-scale mutiny. Whats the risk? Little Ozzie coming after you?

I hope it comes to blows and Magglio pulls a flying-kick on Ozzie like in that Tigers brawl.
   11. Scott B Posted: December 05, 2003 at 11:43 PM (#386132)
I hate ####### Jerry Reinsdorf

Don't we all?

Oh man, Ozzie is going to get cornholed on this site all season long... he's debuted on the Most Hated Chart with a bullet."

He's the new number one!

How many teams can match our trifecta of idiocy in Reinsdorf-Williams-Guillen?

Well, when it was Wilpon-Phillips-Howe, the Mets could have given you a run for your money. With Duquette, it may not be the case. And then there's the Brewers, although that idiocy chain is pretty top-heavy.
   14. Flynn Posted: December 06, 2003 at 08:00 AM (#386147)
<i>Little didn't do anything particularly wrong. It was a gut call - nothing coaching philosophy or anything like that could fix. Basically, it was luck, and the decision to leave Pedro in just ended up not working out.

Anyway, Little's gone now - I don't believe Little was Epstein's choice anyway.

But Guillen, on the other hand, is going to minimize his team's chance of scoring runs because all he knows is how to "manufacture" runs.
   15. chris p Posted: December 06, 2003 at 10:14 AM (#386149)
he wasn't duquette's choice either. little was hired when mike port was acting general manager i believe
   16. MNP Posted: January 26, 2004 at 01:42 AM (#386161)
Interesting that Kenny Williams gets more grief for hiring a manager who's yet to cost the White Sox a game than Theo E. got for sticking with a manager who cost the Red Sox a trip to the World Series. I wonder why that is?

Grady wasn't a "manager who cost the Red Sox a trip to the World Series" until after Game 7 of the ALCS. Prior to that, no matter how much he may have screwed up, the Red Sox had a chance to go to the WS.

Theo fired Little after Game 7. Therefore, Theo didn't "stick by a manager who cost the Red Sox a trip to the World Series." Quite the opposite: he fired him.

The premise of your question being fatally flawed, your implication of favoritism carries little weight.

What can I do to help you Judith?

Did you ever hear jerry say crazy things about guys on the white sox?

Are you mobile enough to go to chicago ever to confront Jerry in person?
   26. Jack Who Resembles Voros (before he got fat) Posted: January 27, 2004 at 06:31 PM (#386206)
That's to bad. If i had a zillion dollars i would get you season tickets to the white sox so you could have a presence at the games to annoy your ######## brother. Are you like wheelchair bound and whatnot?

I know a lot about Fibromygalia(sp?). it really sucks. I hope they got you on some good pain medication and/or medical marijuana.

Is Jerry racist? It seems that "the team" is always coming down on Frank Thomas for no reason.
   27. Jack Who Resembles Voros (before he got fat) Posted: January 27, 2004 at 06:55 PM (#386209)
That's hilarious! Jerry Reinsdorff's body guard! What a weird job to have.

What a disturbed guy. I wonder if he just signed Shingo Takatsu with your inheritance.

Tell us some more stories about Jerry's bizzare behavior. It's hilarious that I'm a fan of a baseball team run by this maniac.

That's really funny. Did he ever chew on any rugs?
   30. Bud Selig Posted: January 27, 2004 at 08:24 PM (#386215)
Well, I'd like to hear Jerry's side of the story. I consider him a close friend and find he has many unimpeachable, sterling qualities. He believes that baseball needs a salary cap; he has a team in a major media market but spends like he's in a small market. He forced the local politicos to build him a ballpark and let him keep most of the revenues it generates and still cries poor. He stood by my side when we tried to bust the players' union. He helped me cancel a World Series. He blames the MLBPA for the troubles that challenge our game. He's greedy, he's selfish, he's short sighted, he views breaking the players' union and gouging the taxpayers and fans as the keys to a successful franchise and not something silly like putting a competitive product on the field, marketing the players, and promoting the team. When the ineptness of his decisions causes profits to decrease he wisely blames the consumer for not eating his crap and calling it ice cream.

You've run down my friend Jerry pretty badly Judith, but as you can see from the above, he has many excellent qualities IMHO.

I'm proud to call a man like him a dear friend. Perhaps if you were more like him, we could be friends too.

Ken, you make a valid point. I do kind of feel like this is an exploitation of this poor lady who suffers from a number of ailments, some of which limit her psychologically.

On the other hand, it sounds like she has an intersting story to tell about the leader of the Beloved White Sox franchise, who has a publically known history of disturbingly anti-social and immoral activity (see above comments of Bud S.). The world should know what a dispicable human being JR is. Not only does he treat his customers and employees like crap, but also his own family.

I mean, she seems eager to tell her story, even if it is kind of confused by age and psychological problems.

I'd like to think that you're really Judith Reinsdorf, but I obviously have my doubts.

Firstly, I've never met anyone over the age of eight who supplants the words "you" and "are" with the letters "u" and "r."
   35. Buford Sharkley Posted: January 28, 2004 at 05:21 AM (#386245)
Yeah, I should link to this back at the ol' chisox.com board.

Why do you guys have to be such jerks? If I was a free agent and I knew what JR did to his sister I think it would factor into my decision in negotiations with him.

By the way I already linked this to the WhiteSox.com page and they promptly deleted my post and my account. adios "gregwalker"!

yeah, you definately should get some therapy. Why dont you file for Social Security Disability Benefits? IT would suck if you killed yourself because Jerry Reinsdorf is a dick.

For the Record:

1. Jerry Reinsdorf beat his sister.

2. Jerry Reinsdorf had incestual sexual relations with his sister.

3. Jerry Reinsdorf then cut his sister out of the family fortune and she now, at age 60, works as a waitress in Nevada.

That's a pretty good story. I should make this thread into a zone and sell it for a quarter outside the Cell.

And yes, I apologize for linking to a Phil Rogers article. It sounds almost likes he's making one of those up, but one of them sounds legit.

I just can't wait until we get the new system so this #### doesn't happen anymore.
