MLB : Clot removed from Rogers’ shoulder

Tigers pitcher Kenny Rogers is expected to miss three months after undergoing surgery Friday to remove a blood clot and repair two arteries in his left shoulder.
..
“I can’t look you in the eye and say Chad Durbin’s as good as Kenny Rogers,” Dombrowski said. “But it doesn’t mean he can’t fill the role of a fifth starter and win enough ballgames to get us to the point where Kenny comes back or somebody else is ready. That’s why you have depth in the organization.”

Should have listened to Dusty Baker. Too many roasters clog the arteries

Hey, guys... Those of you who remember I said I'd drafted Joe Mauer and C.C. Sabathia... I drafted Rogers, too. Curse? I think so. Maybe it is time to start asking for protection money for me not to draft people. ;)

Now that's the way to pump up Durbin's self-image.

OK Joel here's the deal:

Get as many A's and Red Sox on your roster as possible. Avoid Angels at all costs. If the Angels go to the playoffs and both A's and Red Sox miss it, I will buy you the player jersey of your choice.

You didn't draft any White Sox did you? If you did, tell me it's Podsednik.

Both my drafts recently finished. I drafted no White Sox. Of the Red Sox, I drafted David Ortiz, Kevin Youkilis and Jonathan Papelbon. Of the Angels, I drafted Howie Kendrick, Scot Shields and Brandon Wood. I also drafted Oakland's Jason Kendall.

If you're counting both leagues, I drafted Shields and Wood twice. And Shields got a fat extension today. So maybe there's hope yet... The teams I have the most players from, I think, are the Tigers and the Padres. Oh, and Milwaukee's Bill Hall in both leagues. Here's hoping Harveys doesn't kill me in my sleep if Hall has a bad year. I'm banking on him making a run at MVP.

Just post your roster so we can see it.

Yeah, that would settle things.

League No. 1: Mauer, D. Ortiz, H. Kendrick, S. Drew, A. Gordon, A. Dunn, B. Hall, B. Giles, B. Bonds, Ad. Gonzalez, J. Barfield, Melky Cabrera, K. Youkilis, J. Kendall, R. Oswalt, B. Webb, J. Smoltz, J. Papelbon, J. Verlander, G. Maddux, N. Robertson, J. Zumaya, F. Rodney, S. Shields, P. Neshek.

Drafted Wood but dropped him for Kendall in case Mauer stays hurt.

League No. 2: M. Barrett, P. Fielder, B. Roberts, M. Young, B. Hall, M. Ordonez, P. Burrell, B. Giles, A. Gordon, Ad. Gonzalez, B.J. Upton, C. Iannetta, K. Lofton, K. Kouzmanoff, Johan Santana, R. Oswalt, C. Young (Padres), C.C. Sabathia, G. Meche, T. Lincecum, Z. Greinke, J. Zumaya, F. Rodney, S. Shields, P. Neshek.

Drafted Wood but dropped him in favor of Kouzmanoff's upside, and picked up Meche upon discovering Rogers' injury.

They should have closed up the surgical wound with pine tar.

First Dick Cheney, now Kenny Rogers. I feel kinda bad about it, but sometimes the guy's such an ass that you have no choice but to root for the clot.

I also drafted Oakland's Jason Kendall.

Why thank you, kind sir!

If it makes you feel better, I doubt Harveys would have to wait for you to go to sleep.

Looks like somebody missed his 301 ERA+ last year.

Chad Durbin. Wow.

I am wondering just who Wil Ledezma has to sleep with to get a shot in the rotation.
