MLB Predictions 2019: Our division winners and World Series picks

It’s that time of the year again — time to try to figure out what baseball will look like come October. We do this every year on opening day, our MLB writers making their picks in each division, the playoffs, the World Series and even some fun prop bet stuff.

We’ll readily admit we’re not batting 1.000 — but it’s baseball, nobody does.

Credit to Tim Brown, he called the Boston Red Sox winning the World Series last year on opening day. So keep an eye on his picks here.

Our crew of writers picked their champions, who will throw the first no-hitter, which manager will get fired first, the MVP winners and so on. Feel free to come back and troll us in October. It’s all part of the game.

Wonder if they’ll do better or worse than The Amazing Criswell would have….

I’d make predictions, except that I’d just copy whatever 538’s projection system says and you can all check that anyway.

It will be another great season, although some will complain throughout it.

I’ve done this the last 3 years, and in that time I’m 1 for 30! (Yep, in spring 2016 I correctly predicted that the guy coming off a 9-15, 4.92 ERA year would receive Cy Young votes.)

I think it's a sign that Mets-itis is communicable that there are people picking the Mets for a playoff spot who aren't even Mets fans. JJ and I are vectors for this sad disease.

OK, good, prediction thread, here it is.

Mine from last year:
52. Fred Lynn Nolan Ryan Sweeney Agonistes Posted: April 02, 2018 at 11:13 PM (#5647294)
A's snag second WC spot and SHOCK THE WORLD as they roll to a World Series victory.

AL MVP / Gold Glove - 3b: Matt Chapman

[pushes all chips to center of table]

I thought they were a 90-win team last year, and I think so again this year.
They don't have to beat the Red Sox or Astros; they just have to be better than the Twins/Angels/Rays, and I believe they are.

bonus prop bet: WS MVP - Ramon Laureano
