MLB: Cardinals: Pujols publicly addresses false reports

Oh, somehow please blame ‘Miked Up’, please blame ‘Miked Up’...damn.

When first asked, Pujols indicated he had no desire to rehash the situation.

“I don’t want to go through that,” he said. “Because if you want to hear how I feel, it’s going to get real bad here. So we don’t want to start that. And I think you should respect that.”

...“It’s a good thing that it happened so that the people out there in the United States and here in St. Louis, they can look at it and say 50 percent of the things that you guys write are not true,” he said.

“I’m really disappointed about the media in St. Louis, whoever from Channel 2 or FOX that started that thing here in the city of St. Louis. I didn’t appreciate that. If it was New York or somewhere else, I wouldn’t care. But here in St. Louis? My people? It hurt. It hurt.”

...“Baseball is just a hobby, man. God has blessed me. And I fear God too much for me to do a stupid thing. I fear him. If I do some stupid things to help me out, to hit .400 or three-something or hit 30 home runs, he’s going to take that away from me. So why not be the natural guy like I’ve been since I was in the Minor Leagues? To cheat in this game, that’s not right.”

Honestly at this point, whether one believes that they did it or not, does it serve any purpose to come out and make any kind of statement about what you believe and whether you did steroids or not? Not to pick on Pujols, but if someone thought one way or another, are any of these conversations changing public perception? Also, I personally don't think he did it, but I wouldn't bet $10 on it. Also, even if he says he did it, I'd take my family of 4 and go spend $250 to see my Dodgers play the Cards. So really, no more public addresses. Tell me what you think about some of the prospects you see coming up in your organization instead.

It might not matter, but if someone is erroneously questioning my integrity you'd better believe I'm going to defend myself aggressively and probably light the "source" up publicly.

Pujols has spoken too fast/slowly/angrily/impersonally/under pressure/without being prompted to be credible.

Unless he files a lawsuit, he's a filthy cheating liar in the all-important "court of public opinion."

And also after he files one.

Christian...karma. Hmm. Not exactly canonical, is it?

Also, I think he's breached the 30 HR and three-something barriers.
