MLB.com: Grudzielanek leaves game with injury

When we said Ross Gload was hurting the team, we didn’t mean this:

Royals second baseman Mark Grudzielanek left Friday night’s game after a collision with first baseman Ross Gload.

In the ninth inning, Grudzielanek was chasing a high popup by the White Sox Juan Uribe. As Grudzielanek made the catch, he was clipped by Gload who was ducking to get out of the way.

Grudzielanek left the game limping on his right leg.

Center fielder David DeJesus left the game in the seventh inning, but no reason was announced. He had jammed his foot on first base in the fourth inning and had a stiff back when the game began.

The Royals lineup tomorrow has the potential to be really sad, with DeJesus, Guillen, and Grudzielanek all probably out due to injuries (DeJesus hurt his ankle going to first to avoid a pickoff, Guillen has been messed up for weeks)

Although knowing Hillman, the lineup tomorrow should go a bit like this..

1. German (LF)
2. Aviles (2B)
3. Butler (DH)
4. Guillen (RF)
5. Gordon (3B)
6. Maier (CF)
7. Gload (1B)
8. Buck (C)
9. Pena (SS)

Then Hillman will shuffle his lineup a bit when he realizes that Guillen is still slow and injured. He scratched Guillen late today, and played him in the field for three games in Oakland despite Guillen being slow and injured.

(if Guillen doesn't play, then Teahen plays)

Ross Gload has started in 42 consecutive games now.

And good lord.. the Royals have a lefty-stacked lineup

I haven't watched enough games... how is Aviles at short?
He's one of few bright spots for this incredibly under-performing team.

I'd complain about Gload, but who's better?
Teahen had proved to be a flop, Gordon's looking like one, Butler can't play 1B.

Really as long as German, Aviles, DDJ, Gordon and Butler play everyday I'm happy.

Aviles is probably below average at short and better at second. But we have huge communication issues (which is why Russ accidentally clipped Grudz tonight)

As for Gload.. how about letting Butler have a glove for once on the nights that Guillen is healthy enough to bat (and too slow to field). Putting Guillen in right field days after he heard a 'snap' in his groin is stupid.

But the team has 10 healthy members right now. DeJesus is probably taking Saturday off.

Gordon has gotten better at hitting this year. Teahen should be starting against Buehrle (15 for 36) but won't since he killed Trey's chia pet or something. Butler hasn't proven anything one way or another in fielding and first base fielding is as useful as spinner rims anyways. Playing Gload for 44 straight games is god damn insanity.

But this nationally televised game has the potential to be ugly. Also, Davies sucks, and that'll make things worse.

One of the huge problems involves most of the Baird development staff being morons, and we'll see if Moore shaped things up much there in a few years.
