MLB.com: Huber’s first homer propels Padres

Chances are Justin Huber won’t romanticize tales of his first Major League home run when he gets around to returning to his native Australia, but not because he didn’t think it was an important hit for himself and the Padres on Sunday.

“It’s pretty special… but I don’t see myself telling stories about it in 10 or 20 years,” Huber said. “No one (in Australia) knows who Randy Johnson is.”
...
But Huber’s first home run was clearly the highlight of the game for the Padres and a welcome sight for a team that had gone 106 innings without a home run until they hit two on Saturday.

“We think there’s a home run in our lineup,” Padres manager Bud Black said.

He just might not have thought Huber would have been the one to hit one off Johnson (0-1), who allowed six runs (four earned) on six hits with three walks in 5 2/3 innings.

They'll probably think it's a joke. Especially if you try and tell them about how big he is and about his legendary exploits.

Isn't Australia the land of emus?

Mate, he really pounds it hard inside! And you should check out his slide piece. I would be glad just to make contact with it!
So many guys strike out with him. And I hit a HR! I went all the way, I took him wayyyy deep!

The Dbacks have played like crap in both of RJ's starts this year. Then again, he hasn't been great either. But the combination of cold hitting and poor defense has been especially poignant in both of the Unit starts

107 minor league homeruns and you get your first major league homer of Randy Johnson. Thats gotta feel pretty good. Congrats to Huber
I was pretty impressed with Wolf today. He pitched extremely well. If he can stay healthy and give them 180-200 innings somehow, he'll be the steal of the off season.

RJ is getting close. He doesn't have his command yet...but when that falls into place, he will run off another dominant stretch like last year. Just hope he can stay healthy this time.

Hudson has really hit the wall recently, and he must be frustrated out there. But Melvin keeps penciling him in the #3 slot, and he's basically an automatic out right now (.500 OPS over the last 7 games). But I doubt the Dbacks move him out of the #3 spot any time soon. Byrnes had a double digit game hit streak snapped today, and everyone else in the lineup except for Jackson and Reynolds took the day off. Tough to win those games.

Can't they just say he's like Graeme Lloyd but better... and uglier?

Like Graeme Lloyd.... but UGLIER?

I don't think they'd be able to conceive of such a concept.
