MLB.com: Mark Prior in the present tense

A very nice, feel-good article.

“Hey,” the guy riding shotgun calls out. “Can I ask you something?”

Nine years ago, the man who’s about to answer this question was famous. He was a phenom, towering above baseball from the 10-inch-high Major League pitcher’s mound. Already a Cy Young Award contender at 23 years of age, and—paramount to his devotees, the beleaguered Chicago Cubs fan base that had not experienced a World Series championship since 1908 and a World Series appearance since 1945—a limitless, blazing 6-foot-5, 230-pound manifestation of rekindled hope aflame.

It is a good article. I'm rooting for him to come back, but it seems like that ship has left the dock.

These are the saddest of possible words,
Prior, Zambrano, and Wood.

A trio of ex-Cubs with tendons interred,
Prior, Zambrano, and Wood.

Stoically pitching through undiagnosed troubles,
turning an elbow joint into a muddle.

Arms that were silenced with unforeseen struggles
Prior, Zambrano, and Wood.

Obviously Prior won't "come back" in the sense of being an ace starter (or any kind of starter). But, you'd think that a guy who struck out 38 in 25 IP at AAA last year has the potential to make a major league bullpen (although he's also walking everybody.)

I sure hope the guy at least gets on a major league mound to face one more batter!

Bring back Adam Greenberg, give him another PA.

The media in chicago never gave him a fair shake. They always complined about how injured he was and thet he didnt seem to care. And yet years later he is still trying to get back to mlb

Greenberg actually signed a minor league deal with the Orioles, believe it or not. I don't know why, but I don't think it's just a publicity stunt, since that seems pointless now.

Tip of the hat to post 2, though I might have gone with 'puddles'.
