MLB.com:  Rays send Joyce to DL among flurry of moves

Seven Major League players were involved in Friday’s transactions, which included the following:

• Infielder Jeff Keppinger (broken right big toe) was reinstated from the 15-day disabled list after missing 29 games.

• Outfielder Matt Joyce was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left external oblique strain.

• Right-hander Joel Peralta dropped his appeal and immediately began serving his eight-game suspension for using a foreign substance on his glove.

• Infielder Brooks Conrad reported to the team after being claimed off waivers Thursday from Milwaukee.

• Right-hander Brandon Gomes was recalled from Triple-A Durham

• Outfielder Rich Thompson was optioned to Durham.

• Infielder Drew Sutton was designated for assignment.

It keeps on coming. Having Keppinger back is a big help against lefties at least.

Outside of maybe St. Louis, Tampa Bay seems like the only place Soriano would somehow return to being a really productive (and presumably cheap) player.

Who is the Rays current DH? Scott, except he's on the DL, and maybe Matsui? I guess Soriano could DH until Scott returns, and then platoon with Scott and play a little OF? I mean ####, they're running Matsui out there in RF. I wonder if Soriano could handle 1B against lefties. I'd think the Rays would be more interested in Geo Soto than Soriano.

Alfonso Soriano is available.

Can't wait to see him on the Yankees.
