Phillies center fielder Shane Victorino was placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday night with a strained right calf, the same injury that curtailed his 2007 production. Outfielder Chris Snelling’s contract was purchased from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to fill Victorino’s roster spot.
...
Without Victorino and Rollins, Phils manager Charlie Manuel will juggle his lineup, with Werth and So Taguchi sharing time in center field. If the injury keeps Victorino out for an extended period, the Phillies may dip into their Minor League system for reinforcements, namely center fielder Greg Golson, who is off to a blistering start for Double-A Reading.
The World’s Most Fragile Human is back in the bigs, which if history repeats itself, will give him another shot to accumulate more MLB service time from the DL (he’s already well into arb eligibility with a total of 89 games played).

1. Hectoring Villanueva Posted: April 13, 2008 at 06:45 AM (#2741767)I played online poker with some one claiming to be Shane Victorino on Mansion a few months after the Steelers free bet promo in 2006 (gambling types will recognize this). I joined a $5-10 limit table that featured a player spewing the typical "I make more money than all of you combined" jibber-jabber in the chat box. Someone finally fed the trolling attempt, asked him what he does for a living, and got the response "I'm a major league baseball player." Asked who he was, the big leaguer said:
"Duh"
See, his clever screen name was "Victorino" and he expected everyone to recognize the last name of the Phillies fourth outfielder who replaced Bobby Abreu in right field after he was traded to the Yanks midseason. Which leads me to believe it was actually Shane Victorino since (1) if you're going to impersonate a baseball player, why the hell would you pick Shane Victorino and (2) the person most likely to think that Shane Victorino is an obvious household name is, well, Shane Victorino.
[/meaningless semi-hijack]
(1) if you're going to impersonate a baseball player, why the hell would you pick Shane Victorino
Because he has a cool name. I might also impersonate Yorman Bazardo, Dante Bichette or Lance Broadway.
Also, I hope that when you beat him, you mocked him by saying "Victory? No".
Golson has no plate discipline, but lately he's making contact, can run the bases and is a tremendous defensive outfielder. He's certainly not a starter, but used smartly he can be an asset.
