Modern Family Star Eric Stonestreet Escorted From His Seat At Dodgers Game After Verbal Altercation

Send Out the Clowns (weak weak sauce).

Sports matches are ideal places to blow off a little steam and engage in some good-natured ribbing with rival fans, but sometimes that friendly competition can go too far. Such was apparently the case for “Modern Family” star Eric Stonestreet, who was reportedly escorted from his seat at the L.A. Dodgers game on Saturday night after getting into a verbal altercation with another fan, according to TMZ.

Sources told the gossip site that “Stonestreet said something to the [St. Louis] Cardinals fan after the guy heckled a Dodgers player,” but that the disagreement never escalated to threats.

After TMZ’s article was posted, Stonestreet took to Twitter to tell his side of the story.

Eric Stonestreet

i did NOT get kicked out of the Dodgers game last night. did i get escorted to the top of the stairs by security? yes. yes i sure did.

"Eric Stonestreet" would be a terrific character name in a "Flintstones" reboot. (Indeed, you could get Stonestreet to do the voice!*) I imagine Eric would be one of Fred and Barney's occasional pals, who flirts shamelessly with Wilma and Betty, but Fred and Barney are too thick to notice...

EDIT: *There would actually be precedent for this: in the "Flinststones" movie, Fred gets a secretary named Sharon Stone...and they wanted the real Sharon Stone to play her! (She turned it down, as she was shooting another movie at the time, a decision she has said she now regrets.)

Based on the character Stonestreet plays on Modern Family, it's not Wilma and Betty he'd be flirting with . . . .

Next thing you know, there's going to be man on dinosaur marriage. I don't want my children to have to see Barney Rubble riding Dino!

I refuse to believe anyone would regret NOT being in The Flintstones movie.

Stonestreet, a KC native, did his fellow Royals fans proud.

Hard to believe, certainly, but the Flintstones movie was popular and got decent reviews. The film she did instead, the 1996 remake of Diabolique, died a quick death.

Edit: RMc ruined the joke.

But it did give director Jeremiah Chechik, best known for National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, the serious drama credentials he needed to make the 1998 Avengers movie.

I remember being refused a ticket for the Flintstones movie. My buddy and I went to see it in NYC in mid-June, after the final morning session of our private middle school. Public schools still had another week or two, and the lady in the booth thought we were skipping. Never actually saw it.

Instead of Sharon Stone, the producers had to settle for the then-Mrs. David Justice.

i was at the game saturday.

lots of rabid st. louis fans in the stadium, and an especially vocal one in my section ... but there weren't any confrontations, and boy did they get shut down at the end. they all looked like they'd just been punched in the stomach.

as a schizo dodger-cardinal fan i was at a loss all night. i applauded every good play no matter who did it.

Luckily, those crazy kids in NY took the "Fans Gone Wild" heat off of him.
