Murray Chass, Bud Selig and…Craig Calcaterra? Your new baseball society sounds charming.

Human sacrifice! Dogs and cats, living together! Mass hysteria!

This Selig-supporting stance should enhance Chass' popularity here at BBTF.

> Doesn't read TFA anyway.

The author calls Selig his friend in the third paragraph of the article.

Of course he's going to be supportive of the guy.

FTFA:

Yet Selig has continued to have his critics. This ignorant piece was written three years ago, but I chose it because it was written by Jay Mariotti, a former Chicago sports columnist, who once asked an American League manager if he might start the game without a designated hitter in the lineup but bring in a player as the d.h. during the course of the game. At the time, the d.h. had been around for 25 years or so.

Early April Fools Day joke by Chass?

Even Murray Chass knows that Jay Mariotti is an idiot.

Damnit... I read the blogger's article, and outside of the first couple paragraphs where he went on trying to establish his neutrality on the subject, the Article itself agrees with pretty much everything I've been saying.

It's hard to remember with his old man disease, but at one time Chass was pretty astute. I guess moments of clarity like this article get through his age addled brain once in a while.

Of course any article that destroys Mariotti, automatically has some redeeming features.

If I'm The Last Man on Earth, I'm going straight to Fenway and setting up a pitching machine.

I tried to click on to Murray's site, but it froze my Hollerith cards

Really fixed. (Kids, ask your grandparents what a Hollerith card was...)
