Nationals Reportedly Interested In Matt Harvey, Raisel Iglesias

Harvey, 29, has undeniably raised his stock since joining the Reds in a trade nearly two months ago in a trade that sent Devin Mesoraco to New York. Through 53 2/3 innings out of the Cincinnati rotation, he’s worked to a 3.86 ERA with 6.7 K/9, 2.0 BB/9, 1.17 HR/9 and a 43 percent ground-ball rate. More encouraging than the bottom-line numbers is the fact that Harvey has steadily improved his velocity over the course of his tenure in Cincinnati; he’s averaged nearly 95 mph on his fastball over his past five starts and is averaging 94.2 mph on his heater as a Red after averaging 92.6 mph as a Met.

Rizzo's lust for other teams' closers can't be sated.

When the Nats sign Harvey, their fall will be complete.

Since their 3-18 start, the Reds have gone 34-30. Over the same period, the Nationals are 32-30. Perhaps the Reds should try to pick up Bryce Harper as a rental?

The mental image you've created in my head, it's awful. I hate you.

That's just because you are making bad assumptions about where Papelbon's butt fits into things.

There is no good answer to that question.

the way i read that is the nats are interested in iglesias as a starter, which actually sort of seems like a good idea to me

then again it might be a horrible idea

and as i re-read maybe i read wrong........

oh, who the hell knows.......

It may not be pretty, but small price to pay - it can handle three or four innings all by itself.

The Nats held a players only meeting yesterday. It sounds like they could use better leadership in the dugout. Send Riggleman back to Washington to finish the job!

Seriously, please do anything to prevent the Reds from removing Riggs' "interim" tag.

Logically, I'd think the limit is one inning per outing.

Glad to see that Harvey has improved with the Reds, even if he's basically just pitching like a league average-ish starter. And Mesoraco has put up a 114 OPS+ for the Mets so far, so it seems like one of those win-win trades for both teams and players.
