Was surprised to see this wasn’t about Ricky Romero - hadn’t heard of Seth. Getting old is a #####.

Ricky? Hell, I was thinking Ceaser.

I was expecting J.C. Romero.
   4. What did Billy Ripken have against ElRoy Face? Posted: March 06, 2018 at 11:55 AM (#5634476)
Eduardo. Although I guess he wasn't a lefty, or a pitcher at all for that matter.

According to BB-Ref, there have been 10 major leaguers named Romero and 5 of them were LHPs.

10 Romeros seems low. I thought it was a common name. None of them have been very good either, except Ricky Romero in his brief career. I've never heard of 7 out of 10 of these guys, mostly very recent players. Where are all the Romeros?

Ed Romero: 1912 career AB
Alex Romero: 299 career AB
Stefen Romero: 215 career AB (active)
Mandy Romero: 77 career AB
Niuman Romero: 18 career AB

Ricky Romero: 801.1 career IP
J.C. Romero: 661.1 career IP
Ramon Romero: 67.1 career IP
Enny Romero: 55.2 career IP (active)
Davis Romero: 16.1 career IP

So much for that gamble -

Romero was in the mix for a top half, perhaps even top 10/top 5 pick once upon a time - but a suspension, then a subsequent unspecified "team problem" got him kicked off the team and he fell to the Nats... I suppose it's not a terrible gamble, but it looks Romero still hasn't grown up and the Nats probably wasted 2.5 mil.

Like most last names, most don't make it out of the minors. I see 144 Romeros on the minor league side of bbref.

He actually got kicked off of two teams. The first was for drug issues (he posted a photo of himself in uniform holding a bong on social media, and also tested positive for pot), and the second was reportedly for getting in a fistfight with a teammate.

Sounds like the first one was for stupidity.

I was expecting Enny, who had a decent year with Washington last year. Who needs Seth when you have Enny, right?

Yeah, exactly. I don't give a #### if a guy likes to smoke up, but show at least a little bit of common sense and impulse control.

"Where are all the Romeros?
Long time passing
Where are all the Romeros?
Long time ago
Where are all the Romeros?
DFA'd now, every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?"

Apparently, Heyman is reporting that the infraction was a "missed curfew" - Romero out late with his GF... That sounds a little - odd - to actually get him sent home.

J.C. Romero's bbref pic is of him in an Indians hat. I hadn't remembered him playing for the Tribe and indeed he didn't (at least not in the majors). Strange choice.
