NatsFest Fallout - Strasburg’s Loose Bodies, Harper’s Knee, Espinosa’s Wrist (Shoulder), More!

Strasburg finally opens up at NatsFest about cavorting with loose bodies:

The way loose bodies work is that when you get hot and you get the blood flowing, your [arm] straightens out and you feel [normal]...

Harper’s knee hurt before he hit the wall

Espinosa also had an interesting quote regarding the broken wrist (shredded shoulder} he played with last season. He said he should have rested the injury when it first occurred in April (really 2012).

I shouldn’t have [played]. But at the same time, I’m not the doctor reading the film. So yea, I shouldn’t have been playing on a broken wrist the whole year. Like I said, if you’re told you have a bruise, you play through a bruise. Everybody plays through bumps and bruises. I wouldn’t have played if I knew I had a broken wrist. I shouldn’t have been playing at all.

So Stephen Strasberg is aligning his qi?

The Danny Espinosa story is one of wasted opportunities. The Nats might be looking at a brighter story in 2012 and 2013 had everybody involved not buried their heads in the sand about the condition of his shoulder. But the damage has been done and now he finds himself just another minor leaguer fighting for a job against underwhelming competition.

A preview of Billy Joel's concert:

Tendon rupture, plantar test
Let's give Stephen three months' rest
Joints are barking, ACL,
Danny's shoulder feels like hell
It's perosis, osteo
That was a clown quad tear, bro

They cannot start till August
It's full time rehabbing 'cause the pain is stabbing
They will not start till August
The team is cautious while the fans are nauseous
Though the season's just begun, we'd best take the innings one by one by one by one by one by one...

can I ask a dumb question: Do these guys not have their own doctors that they go to?

I mean at this pt in time given: How much money is on the line and; how many stories about fqd up team doctors there are shouldnt everybody playing at this level just go to his own doctor? What am I missing?

What am I missing?

1) Players do go to their own doctors for second, third, etc opinions. Players, not teams, decide who performs their surgeries.
2) The teams are footing the bill, so it makes sense for them to have some say.
3) Medicine is really hard.
