Hunter Renfroe with a three-run bomb. Jace Fry comes on for Oregon State, but MSU leads 4-0 after 5.

Yes, it IS possible to hit a home run in TD Ameritrade.

Beavers pick up a run in the 6th, but Ross Mitchell comes in to squelch the threat.

Should have been called safe at first. Make up call for the play at home, though.

Tyler Smith you ducking loafer! That should have been a hit.
Edit: lol at the autocorrect on my phone.

Oh well. It was a nice run while it lasted.

Mississippi State vs UCLA in the final, starting tomorrow. For what it's worth, in the pre-CWS podcast Baseball America's Aaron Fitt rated the Bulldogs and Bruins fourth and last in their respective brackets. I think the fact that these two teams pulled through is a tribute to the value of (1) pitching depth and (2) not making mistakes.

I think UCLA has the advantage. Plutko and Vander Tuig are well-rested, while MSU used Graveman twice and their other starting pitchers are fairly ordinary. The Bruins have ridden their pitchers all year and they've shown an ability to take advantage of every mistake made by the opponents while making very few themselves. MSU's been playing extremely well and I think they match up about as well as anyone with UCLA, but I'll take the Bruins.

UCLA won game 1 (3-1) in the best-of-three series and is up 1-0 and threatening in the third. The Bruins can't hit, but pitching and defense is working for them.
EDIT: squeeze makes it 2-0.
EDIT2: now 3-0.

This game is boring. 5-0 UCLA in the 5th.
