New York Post: CALL HIM M.I.A-ROD

Kate Hudson may be wearing A-Rod out. The slumping Yankee slugger missed most of last night’s game against the Florida Marlins after riding the bench the night before as well with a case of “fatigue.”

The rest hasn’t seemed to do much good: In his pinch-hit cameo last night, he merely drew a walk.

And that R&R is expensive; Rodriguez pockets $203,704.40 a game—even when he’s riding the pine.

It’s not surprising that A-Rod is feeling a bit sluggish—the wilting all-star was caught partying in South Beach with Hudson, his main squeeze, in the wee hours yesterday morning.

The third baseman was seen leaving an exclusive party with the actress at around 2:30 a.m.

It remained to be seen whether the benched ballplayer would muster another sudden burst of energy for a late-night rendezvous with Hudson after last night’s game, which the Yanks dropped 2-1.

If Hudson ends up transcribing Alex’s biography for him, life will imitate art.

Dear New York: shut up.

I would love to see this same set of circumstances described if it was Jeter;

"the Yankee captain danced the night away then came off the bench to draw a key base on balls with the game on the line."

And quite honestly, what is the "wee hours of the morning?" With the Saturday night game at 7:05 he could have come in at 5AM and still gotten ten hours of sleep easily.

I hate the Yankees, I can't stand Alex Rodriguez, but really, this is just ridiculous.

So which New York newspaper hates A-Rod the most?
Who's A-Rod's J.Jonah Jameson?

Are you kidding? The newspapers love A-Rod. He's an easy story every day, no matter what he has or hasn't done. For them, it's like waking up every morning, to find that it's always Christmas.

I think this is pretty reasonable critisism actually. If the guy is too worn out to play effectivly, he should be taking it easy.

Being out with fatigue is like calling in sick, if you call in sick from work it's pretty bad if you are caught partying that same day.

The walk comment was ridiculously obviously.

ARod remains fascinating to me in his utter inability to manage his image, combined with his obvious deep desire to keep it managed. Seriously, you make sure you're getting time off to deal with fatigue, and then in the middle of the time off you go out on the town in the most visible manner possible - ie, attached to a major celebrity? I don't think that's particularly wrong - ballplayers have been partying since the beginning of time, and I don't know ARod situation well enough to speak to it - but did he seriously think he'd receive anything but this in response?

If he didn't care about his press, then whatever. But, you know, The Rod he ain't.

Meh, I wouldn't be surprised if "fatigue" was Girardi-speak for "needs a couple days to clear his head." A-Rod has looked out of sorts at the plate pretty much all year. He's trying to pull everything, his timing is off, and he seems to be pressing with guys on base. A night or two out on the town with some fine celebrity booty may be just the thing to get him to relax.

I heard a rumor that A-Rod may have farted this morning while eating his breakfast. Does anyone have any more details?

That's an exaggeration, Twisty, but he did scratch his ass. Yes, the right buttock -- the same side as his recently injured hip.

How about if he's too unlucky to get his BABIP up to where it should be?
   13. Tripon Posted: June 22, 2009 at 07:17 PM (#3228071)
With a busted hip? I haven't seen any Yankees game this year, but shouldn't an injury affect his hitting?

It should be noted that this "article" is not from the sports section, and therefore takes even more liberties because it can claim ignorance to certain facts.

First, the Friday night game ended after 10 PM. It's unlikely he left the park before 11 PM. So had he gone anywhere after the game, even to play canasta with his mother, he'd be out in the "wee hours." There's no evidence he was out for more than 3 hours max, which I'm sure almost all his teammates were as well. And if he went home after he was spotted leaving at 2:30, he could have been sleeping by 3:30 and gotten plenty of sleep, as #3 noted above. Also, it was decided ahead of time that A-Rod would not start Friday or Saturday. This article makes it sound like he was benched Saturday because he was tired from Friday night's shenanigans. Ridiculous.

I think the "fatigue" is more than clearing his head, but it's probably concerning his hip and not his entire body. He's been playing every game on a healing joint and it could use a couple days to recover. Sipping on a fruity cocktail at 2 AM isn't going to affect that.

I'll give A-Rod credit where it's due: he's upgrading.

Let it be said, if I ever leave a party with Kate Hudson at 2:30 in the morning, I will not be sleeping by 3:30.

I'm not sure it's crazy to think that the evening might have ended with some, ahem, activities that might involve the healing joint in question.

Also, after a night game what time did he get out of work? 10 PM finish, 30 minutes talking to the press, shower and change and he's lucky to be getting out on the town at 11:30. Even ARod has to eat.

I really thought this was going to be about an affair he was having with M.I.A. But that would mean A-Rod was cool.

If I hate Kate Hudson around, there'd be no parties. If she gets out into the open, she might leave.

Trade him to Humble Pie for fifty bucks and a case of beer.

ARod was last seen on top of a roof yelling, "I am a Golden God." He then wanted his last words to be "I'm on drugs!"

He then accused of Selena Roberts of being "the enemy."

The best thing about this thread so far is the image of A-Rod playing canasta.

What a loser. He should've been like Jeter and hit into a double play.

What a selfish sonabitch. He claims he's fatigued by he still has time to go out until 3.
