Hernandez is a self-indulgent prick who needs to be personally introduced to Michael Vick's dogs.
And he doesn't like Philly cheesesteaks! (although it looks otherwise)
I don't think he means "unconscious" so much as he meant "un-conscious", as in not conscious of nuance. I think oblivious is probably too strong a word. I.e., I think Hernandez is using le mot juste.
(That being said, I think Carter's being an ass. I'm just growing a little tired of Keith's righteousness in the booth, which I'm convinced has been negatively affected by Cohen.)
