Next round of possible MLB managers include Chase Utley, Eric Chavez

The job he’s currently doing seems like the perfect fit for him. Keep giving me boatloads of money to keep doing it.

Brian Bannister

Banny would be great. Love that guy.

Chase Utley as a manager would advise all his guys to slide hard into 2B to try to break the fielder's legs.

If a team wants a creative manager, but also a lot of attention to detail, this might be the guy.

Beaten to it by infielder Boteman. Although I was going more for a hard foul ball into the dugout that shatters his kneecap.

Pre-emptive Coke to Bote Man.

Chase Utley as a manager.

In a salary cap world, this is where the richer teams should excel. There are no caps on salaries of the front office or scouts, or on the number of scouts, or on the extra benefits you can create to promote excellence (team chef with very progressive dietary skills; team trainer with all of the best new equipment to promote eye-hand coordination, flexibility and strength; and so on). All that a salary cap (or luxury tax or whatever you want to call it) should do is transfer wealth to the non-capped assets.

Interesting to see Brandon Hyde on that list. At least locally, there's been quite a bit written on Will Venable as the guy who might be getting groomed as Maddon's successor.

Chase Utley as a manager.
The video started with an ad showing Jimmy Dean talking about sausage. I think that works too.

Pickler could take over for Molitor as soon as this offseason.

Well, a good showing by him as manager is probably the only way Utley makes the Hall.

Went to college with him. He's an exceptionally smart guy.

And to think that previously, King Lear was the best known former player from your school. I'm just impressed that Wm S was able to see into the future and write a play about a hurler.

...

Speaking of alums from there, has anyone heard from Bob Tufts lately? I always enjoyed his brief appearances here.

I would not want Chase Utley as my manager.

I have no fear that this will ever happen for me, personally, but personally I would never want Chase Utley as my manager.

I would never want Larry Bowa as my manager.

Have not seen him around here, but he is fairly active on Twitter. Looks like he is teaching at Yeshiva's business school now.
