Nick Senzel Suffers Ankle Injury

In some ways Senzel is Nick Johnson’s little brother.  Both OBP-heavy top prospects with decent power.  Unfortunately the similarity extends outside of the batter’s box, as they both seem to be made of glass.  And not even some shatter-resistant safety glass either.

I wasn't crazy about the comments from Senzel's agent about service time manipulation. But to his credit, Senzel has said the right things since then:

It was disappointing, the news, because I took the challenge head on and learned a new position. I think what gets lost in this is I had a chance to win the job, and I didn't win the job. That's how I take it. Scotty did what he needed to do to win the job, that's how I kind of see it. He played well this spring and he's got experience up in the big leagues and he's played center before and he played a great job. I didn't win it.

All of that is right, even if teams shouldn't make major roster decisions based on a few weeks of Spring Training. Still, it looks better to send Senzel down when Scott Schebler (who is probably more fragile than Senzel) puts up a 1158 OPS in ST.

Nick Senzel's ankle has violated the covenant of good faith and fair healing.

The Reds should file suit against Senzel for attempting to manipulate them with a fake injury.
